Lillian B. Purdy
June 24, 1919 ~ November 7, 2019
Lillian Purdy, centenarian and lifelong DC resident, passed away 11/7. She is going to heaven to meet her mom Olga, sisters Georgette and Mary and brother Pete. Ms. Purdy served faithfully in the Selective Service for many years until her retirement. A loving Aunt with a special spirit, Ms. Purdy brought light, love and laughter to the world. Survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Memory eternal. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 12 from 6-8 pm at the Money & King Funeral Home, 171 Maple Ave. W., Vienna, VA 22180. The funeral service will be held at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 4335 16th St. NW, Washington, DC 20011. Interment to follow at Glenwood Cemetery.

I am a volunteer at Sunrise Senior Living Center, where Lillian spent the closing years of her glorious life. She was one of the first residents I met, and she stood out as one of the kindest, most compassionate people there. Over the next three years, Lillian and I would develop a wonderful relationship, gracing me with her infectious smile every Sunday afternoon when I saw her. I was heartbroken at first when I heard the news of her passing, but when I thought about it, it occurred to me that Lillian made the most of her century here with us, making people happy and blessing us with laughter even on our worst days. Thank you and God bless you, Lillian. I hope there’s Bingo in the Lord’s kingdom. He will be glad to have you there.
