Lonnie Joseph McClellan

Lonnie Joseph McClellan, age 79, passed away on January 18, 2022 at Inova Fairfax Hospital. He was born on April 6, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana, son of Alonzo J. and Vera E. McClellan. After his mother passed away when he was 10, he lived with his Uncle Earl and Aunt Anna during the school year. In his teens, he worked on the family farm during the summer months. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann McClellan, who he met at Arlington Hall Station while he was an M.P. in the Army. They married shortly after and were blessed with almost 57 years of marriage. During that time, they enjoyed activities together, such as bowling, running the church bingo on Friday nights, and attending D.C. United home soccer games. Lonnie worked in the Auto Parts industry for over 40 years before retiring. He was the devoted father of David McClellan (spouse Afsoon), Sharee McCellan Gates, and Richard McClellan (spouse Jan). He was also the proud grandfather of 12: Dariush, Emmanuel, Arianna, Landon, Carter, Grace, Sam, Gage, Lori Ann, Clayton, Meghan, and Katie Lynn. Family and friends are invited to the viewing, funeral mass, and reception to be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 starting at 10 am. Everything will be celebrated at the family’s parish of St. Philip Catholic Church, 7500 Saint Philips Ct, Falls Church, VA 22042. Burial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made in Lonnie’s name to either Catholic Charities or Wounded Warriors.
