Loren Lamont Bush, Jr.
January 29, 1934 ~ April 30, 2020
Loren Bush was a resident of McLean, VA for 44 years. He passed away on April, 30, 2020 at age 86 from pneumonia and congestive heart failure. Loren was the beloved husband of Virginia Bush; devoted father of Laina Bush (Michael Zajkowski) and Shari Bush (Marc Smith) of Vienna, VA; brother of Adrienne Kaye; and two cherished grandchildren, Morgan Nicole Smith and Evan Michael Zajkowski. He was preceded in death by his siblings Thomas Bush, Donald Bush, and Sylvia Cooper
LTC Bush was born in Port Jefferson, NY, the son of the late Loren Bush, Sr. and Edna Bush. His 20-year Army career included service in Korea, Vietnam, Germany, Hawaii and other US posts. Army retirement was followed by a second career of 20 years at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, 3 Commendation Medals, plus numerous awards from the NRC.
Loren Bush was an active member of the American Legion for many years. He also served as the Chairman of the Washington, D.C. Chapter and Vice President of the mid-Atlantic Region of the American Society for Industrial Security.
Loren and Ginny Bush we’re married 58 years ago in Hawaii and their honeymoon was a trip around the world. They traveled extensively throughout Europe while stationed in Heidelberg, Germany.
Loren was an avid golfer and sports fan. His favorite teams were the Florida Gators, “Brooklyn” Dodgers, and the Redskins.
Loren will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
