Marianne Dorner Coyle
February 26, 1945 ~ October 13, 2021
Marianne Dorner Coyle, of Fairfax, VA, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away suddenly on October 13, 2021 at the age of 76.
Born and raised in Frankfort, Indiana, Marianne left her beloved small town for college and to pursue a career in elementary education. She had a lifelong passion for children's literacy, sparking a love of reading in her students and all the children in her life. She was also a military wife for 23 years. Marianne will be deeply missed for her unconditional love, playful humor, and selfless friendship.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 49 years, Philip Coyle; four loving children: Vincent (Angela) Coyle, Suzanne Coyle, Steven Coyle, and Kathleen (James) Tysse; seven beloved grandchildren; brother George (Mary) Dorner; sister-in-law Pat (Mike) Gabor; nieces, a nephew, and countless friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Stroke Comeback Center, 145 Park St. SE, Vienna, VA 22180, strokecomebackcenter.org.

I have such fond, treasured memories of Marianne. She was a selfless, caring friend with a smile to light up a room. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. Love, Rich and Mary West
We first met the Coyle’s when we were all stationed at West Point in the 70’s. We lived on the same street & our boys played together. We reconnected again at the West Point reunions. Marianne & I enjoyed sightseeing wherever we were while the men played golf. She was so much fun to be with! Her sense of humor & her kind & caring attitude made her a friend to everyone she met. We send our deepest condolences to Phil & her family who were the joy of her life. You are all in our prayers.
Marianne and I were members of the class of 1963 at Frankfort High School. We even ended up in a few classes together at Purdue U. Condolences to her family. Bill Tankersley
I was lucky enough to spend real quality time when Marianne came to stay w Katie Porta as she was battling cancer. She worked tirelessly sorting through drawer after drawer of stuff stuffed away. She was insightful enough and generous enough to realize Katie would not want Her children Michael and Stephanie to be left with that project once Katie left this earth. I suspect Marianne woke and slept with a smile on her face. She had this ever present sense of calmness and leadership throughout her stay that was so soothing to everyone around. Certain people are put on this earth to fill a room with compassion and love and I believe Marianne is one of those very blessed souls. I am convinced Marianne and Katie are joyously reunited for eternity. Wanita P
I have so, so many warm memories of Marianne. Her family lived next door to mine on Armstrong Street in Frankfort, and we went all through school together. Lots of antics and watching scary tv shows! She was a dear friend, and I shall miss her very much. Janet McGill

I am so sorry for your loss. I first met Marianne in line for a Barefoot Contessa book signing shortly after moving to DC. Her friendly demeanor and encouragement to exchange information with her daughter Suzanne, led to my first and continued dear friendship with Suzanne. From there I came to know and love the entire Coyle family. Marianne and her amazing children became part of my life – from helping with a baby registry (Kathleen) to mortgage lending (Vince). And of course Suzanne who would regale me with stories of travel with Marianne. You will be missed. Thank you for sharing your beautiful family.
