David Palus 5/14/1956-3/29/2023

David Palus was a dedicated father and husband who was committed to his wife Marcy and only son John. David was born in Johnstown Pennsylvania but spent most of his life in Great Falls Virginia. He was an electrical engineer, with a degree in engineering from University of Pittsburgh and masters from MIT. He worked in government contracting and enjoyed developing small electrical devices in his spare time, David did sudoku every morning in the paper and made sure everyone was up, fed and out the door except for the Palus family’s two Maine Coon cats that hung out with David as he went through the day’s chores. David was a great guy who was beloved by everyone. His eloquence, wit and kindness will be greatly missed.

Martha Palus 3/20/1959-5/15/2023

Marcy (Martha) Foley Palus was a force to be reckoned with. She was born in Massachusetts, graduated from Boston College as an English major and then went on to Raytheon and then Lockheed Martin, where she was Vice President of Contracts for many years. Marcy was a true professional and was well respected by her peers. In addition to her success in her field, when she came home, she was a great mother and wife who always put her family first. She was a true renaissance woman- she could talk to you about anything from the arts to your next investment to the best new book or politics. She knew it all! The world will just not be the same without her.

Guestbook

  1. Marcy and Dave Palus were extraordinary friends. Their kindness, warmth, and generosity were unsurpassed. I cannot tell you how much they will be missed. They both lit a room with their energy and smiles. My heart goes out to their only son, John, who they adored and centered their world around. Love you both Marcy and Dave. John will continue your amazing legacies. Love, gemma ❤️

  2. John – The lessons you learned from your Dad and Mom will live on in you. You were such a joy to them and a great comfort to your Mom over these past few months. Always remember how very proud of you they both were. Hold close memories of happier days. You will always remember how it felt to laugh with them…we hope those memories will bring comfort in time. With heartfelt sympathy and love, Jo Ann & Marvin Goldberg

We miss you, Marcy and David….Godspeed.

  3. Looking back over the years that Marcy was a part of my daily life, it’s difficult to find just one memory to share. I will always remember the “morning drive” calls she made to me on her way to the office. It was the way we started our day. But there is one special memory I will always hold dear. Marcy was a big part of a surprise birthday party my husband, Marvin, planned for me in 2015. I will never forget that day and the joy on both David and Marcy’s faces knowing they pulled it off! Overcome with happiness….that’s what I felt. And the “Covid” Christmas we spent in our garage! What fun the four of us had! Yes, I have many happy memories and that’s what I will keep. I know how very fortunate I am to have worked along side Marcy and to know David…it makes saying goodbye so very hard. Farewell…until we meet again.

  4. Marcy and David, The two empty chairs you are leaving will weigh on us for some time. Your friendship and kindness made such a difference in our lives. I feel blessed to have known you.

  5. Dearest Marcy and David,
You will continue to be there in our lives:

    Hopi Prayer
    Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

    -Mary Frye (1904-2004)

  6. Joan worked with Marcy at Raytheon and Fred worked with her at Lockheed. She was one of the smartest and most knowledgeable government contracts experts with whom we have worked. Marcy was a devoted mother to John and a great helpmate to her husband, David. May both Marcy and David rest in peace.

    Joan and Fred Moosally
