Mary Elizabeth Sestak, age 99, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2022. She was the ever-caring sister to Barbara Cenitch and loving aunt to Mary Jean (Craig) Butterworth and Barbara (Edward) Hanlon and great aunt to Cory and Connor Butterworth and Thomas and David Hanlon. She was preceded in death by her sister Irene Sestak and brother-in-law Eugene Cenitch. Mary was the eldest child of Andrew and Elizabeth Sestak and grew up in Dunmore, PA. After High School, Mary attended Secretarial School and worked at the PNC Bank for over 40 years. Wanting to be near her sister Barbara and her family, she moved to Vienna, VA and built an addition onto their house. She enjoyed being a close aunt to her two nieces Jeannie and Babbie, watching and helping them as they grew into their own families. She particularly liked taking family vacations to Myrtle Beach, Key West, Cancun and Canada, and travelling overseas to Greece. Mary was very sociable, was enjoyable to talk with, and had a gentle smile and a quick wit. She enjoyed conversation and quickly built a rapport with those she just met. She was always up on current events, football scores, and the price of items at the grocery store! Mary loved teaching her great nephews the Slovak language by counting their toes in Slovak, and was eager to hear all things that they were up to. She also enjoyed nature, and taking walks and feeding the backyard squirrels and birds were favorite pastimes. She loved God and her family, and we will greatly miss her. Rest in peace dear Mary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 24, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 8601 Wolftrap Road, Vienna, VA. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 25 at 2:00pm at All Saints Cemetery which is across the street from 1637 Hamlin Highway, in Moscow, PA..
