Nancy Carol Vance Pezold, 84, of Vienna, Virginia, finished her joyful and meaningful life on Sunday, April 18, 2021, after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Lacey Pezold, her parents, William Harley Vance and Dorothy Ellen White Vance, and two brothers, Richard Rodney Vance and Christopher Kevin Vance. She is survived by brothers William Harley Vance II, Gary Scott Vance and Timothy Gerard Vance, one sister, Sandra Leigh Vance Reilly, children Krista Pezold, Seana Reilly, Rob Reilly, April Reilly, and grandson Joshua Fields Reilly, and by a multitude of family and friends to whom she brought love and joy.

Nancy was born December 4, 1936 in Red Ash, Virginia. She graduated from Richlands High School in 1954 and moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked as a fingerprint technician for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She later worked for the Naval Research Lab as a buyer, and Fort Belvoir, where she was the Chief of Small Purchases for several years.

Twenty-six years ago, Nancy, her husband Clyde and sister Sam moved to Crossville, Tennessee into a log home where she created beautiful gardens and park-like surroundings for them, family and friends, and the many dogs and cats they rescued over the years. She loved her family fiercely and was always available to anyone who needed her help. She had a warm and welcoming heart and kept friendships for decades. She will be missed by all those fortunate enough to have known her.

A celebration of life will be held in mid-June at a family home in Fairfax Station, Virginia. Details will be forthcoming.

In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to her favorite charities, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 4600 Fairfax Drive, #900, Arlington, VA 22203; Hopebuilders, Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 1088, Americus, GA 31709-9900; Disabled American Veterans, 486 Sparta Drive, Crossville, TN 38555; and H.A.R.T.(Helping Animals Rescue Team), c/o 1291 Potato Farm Road, Crossville, Tennessee 38571 (hartrescue.weebly.com).
