Richard Su

On September 12, 2022, the Su family lost their beloved father, Richard Su.

Richard was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on September 20, 1942. He was an accomplished linguist officer in the Taiwanese Marines and a general manager of a large luxury hotel in Kaohsiung. In 1974, he set off for the US to seek a better life for his family. Four years later he brought his wife and children to Fairfax, Virginia to pursue their American Dream.

Richard was a proud business owner of two successful Chinese restaurants. However, if you asked him what his biggest accomplishment was, he would tell you, his “family,” of course. Richard was a compassionate, generous, and soft-spoken man who always went out of his way to be kind and help those less fortunate than him. He was one of the founding members of a Chinese Presbyterian Church in Northern Virginia and served as a deacon of that church.

Richard is survived by his wife, Julie; his daughters Alice Kidwell and Christina House; his son, Stephen Su; and his sister, Wendy Wu. He was cherished and will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Grayson Kidwell, Haydn House, Hudson House, and Téa Su. His family on earth is comforted knowing that he is now with God, his mom and dad, sister and three brothers in Heaven.
