Robert Stafford White age 79 on Sunday September 13, 2020 Bob passed away peacefully at his home with his wife by his side. All can take comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering after his long journey with Parkinson’s disease.

Bob was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School, St. John’s College High School ‘59, Augusta Military Academy, Montgomery Junior College, and The George Washington University. He loved playing football at all of these schools. Bob was a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) with a degree in Business Administration. He served in the United States Army Reserves in Fort Myer, Virginia in the mid-sixties.

Bob had a career in fine paper sales, working for many years at the Xerox Corporation and retired as Vice President of RIS Paper Company in 2003.

Bob was a gentle, caring, and loving father and grandfather. He had a sharp sense of humor and enjoyed international travel, especially to Bermuda. He loved the Washington Redskins and all Washington sports teams. He even celebrated the recent championships won by the Nationals and the Capitals.

He was artistic and creative and loved working with his hands. One of his favorite pastimes during his retirement was working in his workshop to build birdhouses and miniature dollhouses, lighthouses, parking garages, and gas stations for his grandchildren and for many others. He will be remembered forever through these beautiful gifts that came from his heart. During his retirement he volunteered at the Shepherd Center of Vienna where he assisted elderly residents as a handyman and as a driver for them when they needed to go to appointments. Through his warm, thoughtful nature he touched so many people throughout his life.

He is survived by his greatest joys: his loving wife, Susanne; his four children, Karen Van Son (Vince), Michael Lynch (Brooke), Andrew White (Joanna), Jennifer Forbes (Rusty); and his nine grandchildren, Megan Van Son Ferryman (Joey), Nicholas Van Son, Amy Grace Van Son, Teagan Lynch, Jake White, Olivia White, Gabriela White, Rusty Forbes, Jr and Cooper Forbes. He is also survived by his brother John (Jack) White, sister Gail Black and many loving and devoted nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled once larger gatherings are allowed.

  5. What a guy that I met 50 years ago at Xerox. Bob could sell paper and was the very best at handling major accounts in the Mid-Atlantic region of Xerox. While he was an excellent salesperson, he was a wonderful man, who always had time for a chat and a friendly smile that made all feel comfortable. Condolences to his family and may Bob rest in peace. God Bless all who were touched by him.

  6. Susanne, so sorry for your loss. Hope you find comfort in the fact that Bob is now in a better place. I will always remember Bob for his sense of humor, integrity, and work ethic. sincerely, Tom Desmond Sr
