Robert Victor Glamb

April 7, 1946 – October 23, 2020 (age 74)

Beloved husband and loving father passed away peacefully on October 23rd, after battling cancer, surrounded by his family in Mclean, VA on property where he had lived since 1977. Robert (Bob, as he was known to family and friends) was born and raised in Garden City, Michigan, the second son of Stanley and Helen Glamb. He attended University of Detroit High School and The University of Michigan, where he received a degree in Business. Bob became interested in commercial real estate while working for General Motors’ Argonaut Realty and came to Washington in 1971 to pursue a degree in Real Estate Appraisal, which led to a variety of real estate activities throughout his career.

Bob met his future wife, Debby, while getting his tax return completed. Married 29 years, he enjoyed horses, skiing, golf, gardening, and his beloved dogs. He was an avid Bob Dylan fan and traveled the world for his concerts. Bob was a devout family man, and the highlight of his life was becoming the father of Nicholas, Emily, and Madeleine, and supporting them in all of their activities. One of Bob’s goals was to attend each of their college graduations, and he was able to do that.

Bob is survived by his brother Victor and his wife Barbara Glamb of Detroit MI, his sister Virginia Bretschneider of St Louis, MO; his sister Barbara McTasney and her husband Richard Nozewski of Ave Maria, FL; and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the mass of Christian burial at St Athanasius Church and internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to So Others May Eat, www.some.org or to The Christ Child Society of DC, www.christchilddc.org.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Mr. and Mrs. Glamb gave me a second family when I was in boarding school with Emily and I will always be grateful for the warmth and seamlessness with which he welcomed me into their home. Remembering the good humour and kindness their husband, father, brother, friend shared with us, and sending the Glamb family sincere condolences.

  2. So sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. He was an acquaintance back in the early to mid 80’s when I was close friends to Brad Rock and Tina Stenberg. Enjoyed his Kentucky Derby parties, our 1984 Langley HS graduation and Bob Dylan tunes at his then home on property he would later build another equally elegant home . Would run into him at 7-Eleven every now and then. Last saw him some years ago jogging at Great Falls Park. I remember him with great fondness and memories – Mike Cowhill, Great Falls, VA

  3. Thinking fondly of Bob today, May 24, 2021, as today is the 80th Birthday of Robert Zimmerman. I was fortunate to have attended a Dylan concert with Bob at the Cap Center in DC back in the day. Bob was one of the gentlest, devoted, kind people that I have ever met. His memory lives on… — Paul Mallchok Chattanooga, TN 423-987-1828
