Rosalyn BrisBois

rosalyn brisbois
Rosalyn (Roz) BrisBois, nee Simon, was born on March 26, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA and died on June 20, 2020 in Reston, VA. Roz was the beloved wife of James Edward BrisBois, who passed away on June 20, 2008, 12 years to the day before Roz. She lovingly raised four children; Barry J. Shine (Melissa); Richard Y. Shine (Kristy); Donna Shine Green and Stanley B. Shine (deceased) (Debbie) and was the step-mother to Tracey BrisBois,. Roz was the devoted and adoring grandmother of Heather Shine; Ricky Shine; Jennifer Murphy (Brian); Jason Shine (April); Christine Thomson (Scott); Scott Shine (Kendra) and Stacie Dodson (Robert). Roz was the proud and loving great grandmother (Gigi) to Holly Shine, Jacob Shine, Catherine Shine, Jonathon Shine, Samantha Murphy, Jackson Murphy, Kendall Murphy, Mason Ornelis, Sophia Dodson, Avery Shine, Durham Shine and Madison Thomson; sister-in-law to Marian Simon; and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. In spite of moving to the Washington, DC metropolitan area in 1965, Roz maintained her love for family and strong roots in Pittsburgh, keeping in touch with her loving family there until her passing.

Roz spent the majority of her career working in property management, with the last 37 years dedicated to managing the high-rise apartment building at 4000 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, in Washington, DC. Roz retired from her position as General Manager in 2018. Living in the same building in which you also manage is a 24/7 job and can be a very difficult balancing act, but Roz handled it with warmth and the utmost professionalism. She loved and cared for the property as if it were her own, and that commitment was evident to both the employees and the tenants.

Roz's passions included boating with Jim on the Chesapeake Bay, bowling, playing cards and spending weekends at her country home in Madison, VA. Most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them. She was proud of each and every one of them.

In addition to her husband, Jim, and son, Stanley, Rosalyn was preceded in death by her parents, David and Ida Simon, her brother and sister-in-law Sydney and Esther Simon, and her brother, Morris Simon.

Although their hearts are heavy, the family will celebrate Rosalyn's life and find comfort that she is in heaven watching over them. She missed her husband, Jim, every day since he passed away. Roz will be laid to rest exactly 12 years from the date and time that Jim was laid to rest, and she will now be with him for eternity.

The family will hold a private memorial service due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Memorial contributions may be made directly back to your family. Roz would want you to spend the money, or more importantly, your time, with your family. Or, we ask that you find something that you are passionate about and donate to that. Expressions of sympathy to the family can be mailed to:

Guestbook

  1. Beloved Aunt Rozzie who I totally adore. She was the best Aunt always staying in touch and checking on me with so much love and and concern. She always had good advice. I was in awe of her ability to maneuver the hundreds of tenants she had with such grace and class. It was mind blowing to watch her in action she was as smooth as silk. She was my hero and a wonderful role model. I learned a lot from her as did anyone else who was a part of her world. Aunt Roz, I will miss you so very much. I cherish all my memories from being a young girl visiting you in Eastmont, to great times together in D.C. and good old Pittsburgh. I love you with all my heart for all eternity. I can only hope to be half as tough as the Simon siblings. Loving you, Terry

  2. Our family has always been very close with aunt Roz, especially when we were young. We share vivid memories of the many summers spent with aunt Roz and uncle Jim. Some being our time spent at uncle Jim’s hotel and swimming in the pool for hours, boating to the Chesapeake bay to go crabbing and horseback riding at Scott and Blair’s house in the country. We loved spending time with them and have so many cherished memories with them. We looked up to aunt Roz and have so much admiration for her. She was beautiful, confident and smart. Aunt Roz and our father held a very special bond. She was like a second mom to him. We loved her dearly. She will forever be in our hearts. Dianne and Cheryl
