Rose Pesch Burt, 95, died peacefully Monday, September 30, 2019 at Lake Manassas Health and Rehabilitation Center in Gainesville following a brief illness.

She is survived by her sons and daughter in laws, Denis James and Diane Burt of Plymouth, MA, and James Charles and Cynthia Burt of Ashburn Virginia; Daughter and son in law Jeanne and Louis Coglianese of Haymarket, VA, Susan Foran of Reston, VA and Janet Bourroughs of Broomfield, CO; 13 grandchildren, Matt and Beth Dunn, Brigit Burt, Noah and Amy Burt, Darcy and Jeff Sabel, Garrett and Marisa Burt, Michael and Erin Coglianese, Charles and Amanda Coglianese, Kirsten and Andrew Lent, Denis Burt, Zack Laine, Christopher and Hannah Bourroughs, Katherine and Cullen Kohls, and Emma Bourroughs; 10 great grandchildren, Logan, Rowan, Brody, Evan, Cameron, Zoe, Xander, Nathan, Sara, and Harry; one brother and sister in law, Arthur and Eileen Pesch and her many friends and caregivers at Sunrise of Braddock Glen.

She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Denis Henry Burt and three brothers, Christopher and Helen Pesch, George and Marie Pesch and Major General John and Gloria Pesch; three sisters, Anna and Edward Albrecht, Caroline and George Mertz, Elizabeth and John Lipinski.

Born and raised in Maspeth, NY, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Schoerlin) Pesch, she lived most of her life in Maspeth, before relocating to Reston, Virginia in 1996.

Prior to her passing, she was a resident of Sunrise at Braddock Glen where she enjoyed many friends and activities.

Rose joined the United States Nurse Corps during World War II and completed her training as a Registered Nurse at Bellevue School of Nursing in New York. In her middle years, she returned to school, graduating from Queens College and receiving a Masters in Community Health in her 50’s. Prior to her retirement she headed the outpatient clinic at St. John’s Hospital in Queens, NY.

An avid and an expert knitter Rose made many sweaters for her children and grandchildren and over 200 Christmas stockings all of which she gave away to families with new babies. In her 90’s she was still knitting scarves and hats which she donated to the Ronald McDonald house.

Visitation will be held at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on Monday, October 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 11900 Lawyers Rd, Reston, VA at 11 a.m.
