Roy Alan Duvall

roy duvall
Roy Alan Duvall passed away on July 8, 2021, after a 15-year journey with systemic mastocytosis, then myelofibrosis, and finally acute myeloid leukemia beginning in late May. Roy is survived by Dawn, his wife for 42 years, and his two sons Daniel and Mark. Roy was born in Baltimore, MD, on August 5, 1950.

Roy had a long career as a Drug Fair and Safeway pharmacist in Fairfax, McLean, and Vienna, VA. He enjoyed riding his Segway to work in Vienna for many years. Roy always began his days reading the obituaries so he could reach out to the families of customers who passed away. He retired in 2010.

Roy became an avid golfer in retirement, volunteering at Oak Marr Golf Course and enjoying the Oak Marr Men’s League and regular outings with his buddies and family. He would like to be remembered for hating the 8th hole but tackling it anyway.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Money and King Funeral Home; 171 Maple Ave W.; Vienna, VA 22180.

Roy required many transfusions in this time of shortage. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating blood at the American Red Cross (redcross.org) or donating to the Myeloproliferative Neoplasms Research Foundation (mpnresearchfoundation.org).

Guestbook

  1. Roy was one of my best friends for all of those 42 years. He was always supportive of me no matter what bone headed decision I made. He was funny. I didn’t always get what he meant but that was my failing. I will miss talking to him. I will miss him so very much. ❤️❤️❤️

  2. Dawn, Daniel and Mark, Elizabeth and I are so very sorry to hear of Roy’s passing. We hope that is some way you can find solace and peace in knowing that we are with you in your time of loss. As I have always said, we seldom have true memories, but rather large groups of moments and mental snap-shots that we cherish the most. We know we will always remember fondly those moments we shared with you all. All our best for you and yours in the future. Warmest regards, Elizabeth and Patrick
