Sharron Ann Brittain Schandler of McLean, Virginia passed away on September 21, 2021 at the age of 79. Born in Dallas, Texas on June 29, 1942, Sharron was the oldest of nine children. She was voted the Most Likely to Succeed by her senior class at Crozier Tech. In 1962, Sharron moved from Dallas to Washington, DC to pursue a career with the government. The highlight of her career was when she was assigned to a tour of duty in Athens, Greece in 1963. She married in 1977 to Col. Herbert Yale Schandler and raised their two daughters in McLean while her husband continued his distinguished career. Sharron devoted her life to taking care of her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was her family and her Lord. She is survived by daughters Karen Rebecca Schandler and Sarah Elizabeth Schandler Counts, son-in-law Christopher Counts, and four granddaughters, Avery, Juliet, Margot and Marielle Counts, of Northern Virginia. She is also survived by two sisters and five brothers in Houston, Texas. She will join her husband at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Sharron's name may be made to her church, Whole Word Fellowship of Oakton, Virgina, which she said was a great blessing to her.
