Steven M. Robinson (Age 66) of Arlington, VA (formerly of Vienna, VA) passed away on September 30, 2020. Steve was born on September 8, 1954, to Alfred E. Robinson, Jr. and Doris (Marshall) Robinson.

After graduating from the University of Maryland with a degree in Political Science, Steve embarked on a career in sales, culminating in his role as Vice President of Government Sales at Knoll, where he worked for 25 years.

His extensive knowledge of the complexities of government procurement was unmatched. He was an honest, caring person who never failed to acknowledge the personal lives of his clients and peers. No question went unanswered. He had a brilliant mind and a detailed memory that was beyond impressive. He never failed to give credit where it was due.

Steve was devoted to his family and instilled the attributes of kindness and respect for all people without prejudice. He is survived by his wife, Laney Dollard Robinson, and two children, Ellen and Kevin (Christopher Sheets). He leaves behind three brothers, Scott (Michelle), David (Mary Pat), and Christopher (Kari Pearre), as well as eleven nieces and nephews.

His Aunt Brenda and Uncle Louis Gubinsky were among his fiercest advocates. Their children Sharon and Mark (Kathy and three children) also remain.

Wake and burial are private. Contributions to the National Brain Tumor Society would be appreciated. (www.braintumor.org)

My life will never be the same without Steven’s presence. Steven, I will miss you until I take my last breath, and I will always miss your kind heart and beautiful smile. Brenda Gubinsky

  3. Steve was a wonderful person who will be missed by so many. I worked for him for many years and he was the most supportive cheerleader a person could have. I could write a book about our fun times together but instead, I’ll toast him with an iced tea while smiling through tears.

  4. Brenda and I have always been so very proud of you. Your life was a huge success. I will always cherish the great times that we had together. I was immensely proud to have been your uncle. Rest In Peace, Dear Nephew, Lou Gubinsky

  6. I had the pleasure of working with and for Steve early in my career at Knoll. He was certainly someone I looked up to and learned a great deal from. He was thoughtful and always found time to focus on life’s accomplishments personally and in business. He will certainly be missed. A glass of iced tea and a smile!

  7. I miss you terribly Steve. I will never forget the support you gave to me and the many GSA projects we worked on together for 18 years. RIP my longtime coworker and friend. Jim

  8. I knew Steve for many years during my time as a CO in the GSA Furniture Center. We negotiated many a tough contract over the years. And in all the time that I knew him, Steve was always a gentleman, a man of integrity and just a genuinely kind, decent person. We sat on opposite sides of the table but we always managed to stay friends and to treat each other with respect. Steve, you will be missed by your family, your friends and the many people who were lucky enough to know you. My sincere condolences to Steve’s family. He was truly one of the good guys. Teresa (Elmendorf) Elbin

  9. Dear Family of Steve Robinson, Light Consultants LLC and its employees are deeply sorry for your loss. We appreciate and thank him for his contributions to the GSA program. May he rest in peace.

  10. I would like to extend my condolences to Steve’s family and friends. He was a truly wonderful person, and he will be missed by all. I worked with Steve during my years at Knoll. We traveled together, and shared some funny stories. Steve also gave me some great business advice early in my career at Knoll that had some profound Impact on my Business life. He was a kind and generous man, and he had a positive impact on many people. God bless.

  11. After moving from Jacksonville, FL to MD in 1984 after my job with a Steelcase dealer there, I was hired at Commercial Office Environments and they held the GSA contracts for Steelcase. I started in the Government Dept. and Steve joined COE shortly after. I did not know anything about Government Contracts and I am in deep gratitude for Steve teaching me all about Government Contracts. He gave so much credit to everyone he worked with and I truly enjoyed our continued friendship over the years. He always asked about my family and vice versa. He cared about others so much and always had a smile on his face. He will certainly be missed by so many. My condolences and prayers go out to his family during this very difficult time.

  12. In the 21 years that I worked with Steve, He was always so genuine. I admired him personally and professionally. With deepest sympathy,

  13. I miss you terribly, Steven. You were so much more to me than being a wonderful nephew. I always thought of you as my kid brother. Your heart was larger than the universe. The great times we had will be forever missed. You left us almost a year ago, and it has been extremely difficult without your presence. Brenda Gubinsky

  14. You are missed dearly, Steven. Your birthday is approaching, and your passing becomes more unbearable each and everyday. Losing you still seems unreal. I will forever love you. Brenda Gubinsky
