Suzhen Shu passed away peacefully on May 16, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Zhangchu, Yixing, Jiangsu Province, China on July 10, 1938. She graduated from Nanjing Technology University (formerly Nan Gong and currently known as Southeast University) with a degree in Physics in 1961. It was there that she met her future husband, Faxing Fan, whom she married in 1962.7.1.
Because of her outstanding academic achievements, she was offered a teaching position and became a professor of Physics at her alma mater. While she was passionate about teaching, her greatest joy was to spend time with her family. She retired in 1993, dividing her time between China and America to help care for her grandchildren. As the matriarch of the family, she showered each with love and care and played a foundational role in their upbringings.
She is survived by her husband, Faxing Fan, and her three children, Ying Fan (with wife Annan Zhou and daughter Jennifer), Shu Fan (with wife Xuankim Ly, daughter Melody and her husband Joshua Kim, and sons Alex, Aaron, and Henry), and Yunhui Fan (with husband Kengjin Lian and sons Joshua and Daniel).
