Tarah Lynn Weaver

Tarah Lynn (Mitchell) Weaver, age 52, died peacefully surrounded by her family on December 19th.

Tarah was born on May 3rd, 1970, in Holland, Michigan to Paul and Judy Mitchell.

Tarah moved often during her childhood including stops in Gaithersburg MD, Marquette MI, Longmeadow MA, Cairo Egypt and Potomac MD. Tarah took advantage of these stops by learning how to figure skate, play tennis, climb pyramids (shhh) and ride a camel. While living overseas, Tarah’s family would often take trips all over the world. She was able to visit Scandinavia, take a river cruise down the Rhine, explore Moscow when it was still part of the Soviet Union, visit the Holy City, tour the Taj Mahal, and swim at the Great Barrier reef among many other adventures. Through these travels, Tarah learned how to adapt to different situations, appreciate unique cultures and develop independence. Many of Tarah’s closest friends were formed while attending Cairo American College (High School). Tarah continued her education graduating from the University of Arizona in Tucson. Tarah then moved back to the DMV area to start her professional career. Tarah met her future husband Russ while working together at ATR. Tarah enjoyed many years working as a contracts administrator, most recently at Booz Allen Hamilton. Tarah and Russ married on May 6th, 2000. Their love produced Greta, Riley, and Mitchell. Tarah paused her professional career for 10 years to raise her children full-time. Tarah loved being a mother more than anything in the world and nothing was more important to her than family. This was a good thing too, because she married into an especially large family. Tarah embraced and loved the many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces and they loved her. Tarah and Russ spent many weekends in the summer at their family cottage in Bedford, PA and many holidays in Sarasota, FL at her parent’s home. Tarah and Russ enjoyed taking the children on vacations to different places every year. Some of the more memorable experiences included trips to Sandbridge, the Grand Canyon, Big Bear California, NYC, Boston, Portland Maine, London, Paris and most recently Greece and Crete. When at home, Tarah was always very active. She enjoyed working in the yard and even mowing the lawn. She also enjoyed running on the W&OD trail with friends and attending the gym (Orange Theory) regularly. Tarah was always there for her kids, which usually meant attending all types of sporting events like soccer, basketball, baseball, and field hockey games. Tarah loved baking birthday cakes and banana muffins and when she had time to relax, Tarah always enjoyed a big scoop of ice cream.

Tarah was preceded in death by her father Paul Mitchell, her grandparents and an uncle. She is now survived by husband Russ Weaver, their children Greta Weaver, Riley Weaver and Mitchell Weaver, brother Bryan Mitchell, and mother Judy Mitchell along with in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
