Vivian Sophia Howard passed on May 4, 2022. She was a native of Texas having been born there in 1983. At age five, her family relocated to Northern Virginia to be closer to Vivian’s maternal grandparents. Vivian attended Fairfax County Public Schools and Browne Academy in Alexandria. In 2001, Vivian graduated from George C. Marshall High School in Tysons Corner. While in high school she was on the Cheerleading Team, competed in art contests and studied art at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria.

Vivian earned a degree in psychology and communications from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia in 2005. Subsequently, she was able to pursue her love of fashion by working in the retail clothing industry. In addition to art, Vivian enjoyed quilting, jewelry making, floral arrangement, baking, and spending time with her Devon Rex cat, “Eros.”

She is survived by her mother, Katherine Koumarianos Howard, her father, James “Gus” Howard, her brother Nicholas C. Howard, and her partner of many years, Yema Latify. Preceding her in death are her grandparents: Anthony “Tony” Koumarianos, owner of the former Apollo restaurant in Falls Church, Paraskeve Koumarianos, and John and Mary Howard of Norwalk, Connecticut.

Guestbook

  1. I will always remember Vivian’s beautiful smile. She was a sweet, kind and caring individual. I had the opportunity to view some of her paintings. They were amazing. My heart goes out to Kathy, Gus & Niko during this difficult time.
