William Leo Miller, Sr. (Age 89)

Passed away at his home in Vienna, Va., on Saturday, November 2, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Patricia Marie Miller; devoted father of William Miller, Jr Jeanne Spofford, Daniel Miller, Trish Miller, Chris Miller and Greg Miller. Also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bill Miller was devoted to his wife, Pat, who passed away in 1995, and to his family and friends. He was born in Washington, D.C. and was overjoyed to see the Nationals baseball team win the World Series. He was also predeceased by his four siblings, Maurice, Catherine, Ann and Charles. The extended families of his brothers and sisters and of the Reillys were most important to him. Social get-togethers, vacations and special occasions were most often spent with family who were held near and dear. He was known for his sense of humor and lust for life. Bill was a spectacular athlete, attending St. John’s High School in D.C. and playing on their varsity football team all four years. He was a boy scout leader, volunteer swim meet official, a member of the Lyons Club for thirty years, and coach of his daughter's championship ponytail softball team. He ushered at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Vienna for more than thirty years. As a salesman and owner of a commercial refrigeration business, Bill contributed to a Falls Church, VA, firm for 10 years, and ran his own company for over twenty-five years in Warrenton, VA. Above all, Bill was generous in caring for his extensive family unconditionally, his reward being a smile and a shared love. In his passing there is a celebration of a life, and a renewed spirit in heaven. He will be well remembered and greatly missed.

The family will receive friends at the Money & King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, Va., on Wednesday, November 6th from 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 7th at 10:30 AM at St. Mark Catholic Church, 9970 Vale Rd., Vienna, Va. Interment will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park.

  1. I have so many great childhood memories of parties at Aunt Pat and Uncle Bill’s, fireworks and lots of cousins to hang with. Uncle Bill was fun and full of life. He adored his big sisters Catherine and my Mom , Ann and the feeling was mutual for their baby brother! Rest In Peace Uncle Bill you were very loved. Sorry I can’t be there -my condolences to all the Miller’s. With love, Kathy Martini (Hayter)
