Yi "Richard" Guo

Yi Richard Guo, beloved husband, father, and son, passed away peacefully during his sleep from a heart attack on June 11, 2020. He is survived by his wife Rae; three sons, Matthew, Jonathan, and Timmy; his parents Rongdao and Meilan; and his brother Wei. Yi was born in Beijing, China, and studied at Tshinghua Univeristy. Yi and his wife Rae met in Beijing, fell in love at first sight, and married in 1990. After immigrating to America in 1991, Yi and Rae built a life together in this new land. He earned his master's degree at SUNY Buffalo, worked in the IT industry for over 25 years, and raised three beautiful children in Northern Virginia.

Yi loved playing tennis, ping-pong, running, and skiing. He also enjoyed playing all kinds of instruments such as the piano, violin, saxophone, flute, and harmonica, most of them self-taught. Writing poetry was another of his favorite hobbies in recent years. He loved serving God at his church and helping his friends in the community. His loving kindness and good humor brought so much joy and laughter to his family, friends, and everyone around him. His sons were his pride and joy, and he raised them to share his love for family and heart for others. We rejoice knowing that he is now with the Lord, yet until we meet again, he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent through Zelle to gzh.rae@gmail.com or through Paypal to zhanguoakton@gmail.com. A portion of the donations will go to the American Heart Association.
