I knew Al when he was a young sailor in dungaries on submarine Dogfish at the sub base in Groton (New (London), Connecticut in 1951. He was a Electronics Tech and I was a Engineman. Neither of us had any idea that we would one day ride in nuclear powered submarines, or that we would go on to be commissioned and move to the wardroom. But we did. There are not many of our shipmates from those years we served together in Dogfish, and i cherish the memories of those days, and Al’s contrbution to them; fishing together in the waters around Mystic; his mother’s lobster rolls. Dear friend, rest youroars.Harry McAfee
