Alice Edythe Lester

Alice Edythe Lester, 86, sadly and suddenly passed away on July 7 at her home in Fairfax, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Dorothy Atkinson, her husband, Guy (Jack) Lester, her brothers Toby Atkinson and James Atkinson, and her sisters, Barbara Doremus and Dorothy Ealley. Alice is survived her daughter, Diana Summers, and grandchildren, Shannon and Ricky; her son, Guy Lester, his wife Valerie, and grandchildren Chantel and Aaron; her great grandchildren, Jackson and Annabelle; her sister, Rita Hunter and her husband, Dave; her brother, William "Hap" Atkinson and his wife Janice; and many nieces and nephews.
Alice was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Strong and independent, she enjoyed spending time with her family, reading novels, solving crossword puzzles, and watching the Washington Nationals and the Redskins play. She worked for many years predominantly in the mortgage loan approval process until retiring. Prior to her recent move to Fairfax, Alice called Vienna home for the past 62 years, in the house where she and her husband Jack raised their family.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no memorial service. A celebration of life event may be planned at a future date.

Alice or as myself and her family called her “ Moomoo” she was my grandmother. I loved her with all my heart and she will forever be missed. Moomoo please watch over us and my mom who loved you more then anything in this world. I miss you and I know you are in heaven with Poppy and Dingle and Barbara and I hope Harley was there also waiting for you. I love you Moomoo
I love you moomoo and miss you dearly. My birthday was the other day and I truly missed you wishing me a Happy Birthday. Please continue to watch over mom and me and all the family. till we see each other again. Please find Harley and give him a big kiss and hug from me and tell him that mommy misses her little fur baby.
