Anne Purcell White succumbed from a long and courageous battle against breast cancer on April 13, 2016. She grew up in Fairport, NY. She graduated from SUNY-Binghamton and University of Buffalo School of Law. She was an attorney at the Department of Justice Antitrust Division. Anne started her career in the Cleveland field office prior to moving to D.C. to work in the Operations section and becoming assistant chief of the Litigation II section and assistant chief to the Foreign Commerce section and then the divisions Ethics Officer. She is survived by her husband, Tom and children, Madeline and Matthew. In addition she is survived by her parents, Al and Joanne Purcell, sister Kathleen (Brad) McCormack, brothers Bill (Lisa) Purcell and John (Becky) Purcell, father-in-law, Ned White, sisters-in-law, Leslie (Bill) Rothamel, Sarah (Harry) Neill, and Amy (Lew) Perry, brothers-in-law, John (Cathy) White, David (Paula) White and Bill (Lynn) White, several uncles, aunts, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Anne will be remembered as a devoted and beloved daughter, mother, wife, sister and attorney. She displayed those qualities we most admire in others: compassion, infectious enthusiasm, unparalleled work ethic, humor and judgment. She will be missed by her family, friends and co-workers.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA on April 18th at 10:30 am with a reception in Flaherty Hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

  5. Anne was such a kind and decent person. It was a joy and honor knowing her when we were kids. Anne always had a tremendous smile of joy on her face whenever we would stop by the house. Godspeed Anne, you are in our prayers daily.
