Tony was born in Sora, Italy, on November 22, 1929, and immigrated to Toronto,
Canada, in 1952. After living and working in Toronto for 25 years, he returned to Rome,
Italy, where, on a vacation trip, he met his wife, Anita, who was on assignment at the
American Embassy. He subsequently worked at the American Embassy in Rome, for
many years. Their journey then took them to the US for a period before an assignment
in Geneva, and then back to Rome. After working several more years in Rome, Tony
retired. Ultimately, they moved back to the US and resided in Virginia.
Tony’s presence always lit up a room, bringing humor and fun to any gathering. Tony
was a fixture in his neighborhood community and loved by many friends throughout his
fulfilling life. Tony had a passion for aviation and could often be found watching
airplanes, a hobby that brought him much joy. He also enjoyed listening to opera,
classical, and Italian music, which filled his home with melodies that he adored. A
devoted fan of the Roma soccer team, he loved cheering them on, and his passion for
the sport was evident to all who knew him. Tony also loved playing cards, scopa, and
Bocce with his friends in Florida, adding to the cherished memories of his life. He was
also an active member and volunteered with the National Italian American Foundation in
his retirement. Tony enjoyed traveling around the world with his wife, where they
explored new cultures together and made lasting memories. His family will forever
treasure his joyful spirit and wisdom.
He is lovingly remembered by his sister Italia Tuzzi (Menadro – late), who lives in
Toronto. He is predeceased by his parents, Gaetano and Antonietta, nee DeRubeis,

Tony was such a bright spot in our family. He always made you feel special and loved. He will always be remembered with a smile.
Our sincerest condolences to you Anita, and the family. Tony was such a special person. He was always smiling, always happy, and never complained about anything. He would light up a room. Our lives have been blest in a special way knowing him.
Anita,
We will always remember Tony, his smile and effervescent personality and the kindness he showed to all who knew him. Sending our love, thoughts and prayers.
Rest in Peace Tony.
Anita,
I only just learned of the loss of your wonderful husband, Tony, and the loss for me and his family and friends of one of the most kind, caring, and generous men we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I am so deeply sorry.
With love and prayers, Donna
Anita,
It was a beautiful send off and tribute for Tony at yesterday’s mass. We were alway in awe of how remarkable he was. May his life and memory be an inspiration to all who knew him.
Love,
Loretta and Bob
Dear Anita,
My sincere condolences on your loss of your soulmate, Tony. My memory of Tony from many years ago in Rome was his ready smile, his willingness to help out and his sense of humor. When I saw him last year in the Hamptons, he had changed very little and still had his upbeat attitude toward life. He was truly a remarkable man.
God bless you during this difficult time. You are in my prayers. Kathy
I had the honor of being Tony’s doctor for many years. He always had a smile on his face, and often a pasta recipe,or wine recommendation. He made friends with whomever was in the waiting room with him, usually sharing his secrets to a long life.
He was devoted to Anita, and Anita’s family, who he considered his own.
He had a zen for life, and enjoyed living it to the fullest. I loved when he would tell me about a opera he had just seen on TV.
I will miss seeing his smiling face and his joyful approach to life.
Fondly
Joanne Crantz
I learned this morning from Anita that dear Tony had passed away. I was blessed to meet him and Anita in 2018 as I began renting a townhouse nearby them. The pandemic brought me close to them and for that I shall be eternally grateful. Out of lemons, came lemonade galore! Wonderful times of food, fun and laughter. And Tony was always the center of it all, especially during times of soccer! God Bless and will always remember…
Anita, We send our deepest condolences to you. We were blessed to share many happy memories with you and Tony. The last when we together for our 50 wedding anniversary party at Ed and Sandy’s. Although it seems so long ago, we remember how he contributed to the success of the party by meeting so many of the guests and sharing his customary charm with those he met. It was always wonderful to spend time with him because of the joy he always brought to any conversation. Bless you Tony for being part of our life’s journey. Rest in Peace dear friend.
