B. Donald Boltz

B. Donald Boltz, 84, of Vienna, Va., died peacefully December 15, 2013, at The
Virginian in Fairfax, Va., following a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Martha Miller Boltz, of Vienna, Va.;
sister Helen Murphy of Rochester, N.Y.; sister Gene Hott of Clearwater, Fla.;
sister Anne Howdershell of Alexandria, Va.; brother Paul (Mary) Boltz of Inwood,
W.Va.; and sister Dorothy (Forrest) Coyle of Culpeper, Va.
He is also survived by son Bruce D. Boltz (Paula) of Purcellville, Va.; son
Michael (Valerie) Boltz of Woodsboro, Md.; daughter Sally Anne Boltz of
Richmond, Va.; son Howard (April Goodman) Boltz of Laytonsville, Md.; daughter
Abigail Miller Hanger (Kelvin) of Hebron, Ky.; and daughter Melissa Miller of
Alpharetta, Ga.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jason (Angela) Boltz of Atlanta,
Ga.; Katherine Boltz of Richmond, Va.; Timothy Boltz of Ashburn, Va.; Jessica
Boltz of Woodsboro, Md.; Courtney Boltz of Laytonsville, Md.; Max and Luke
Hanger of Hebron, Ky.; one great-granddaughter, Juliette Boltz of Atlanta, Ga.;
and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Flora Henshaw and Howard William Boltz and by
his brother Howard William Boltz, Jr.
Mr. Boltz was born October 5, 1929, in Martinsburg, West Virginia. A graduate of
Strayer University, he worked as a CPA at Standard Properties of Washington,
D.C., for over 45 years.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Past Master of Temple-Noyes Cathedral Lodge No. 32,
and a member of Almas Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite, in Washington, D.C. He
served as a deacon and youth choir sponsor at Columbia Baptist Church in Falls
Church. A longtime member of the Kiwanis Club, he was also a member of the Sons
of Confederate Veterans Robert E. Lee Camp No. 726 and an Honorary Associate
Member of Antonia Ford Chapter No. 885, Children of the Confederacy.
A West Virginia state tennis champion in high school and lifelong fan of the
game, he was also a loyal supporter of the Washington Redskins and West Virginia
University.

Don was a wonderful friend, a great mentor, a proud American. He will be greatly missed by so many. He was such a gentle giant to many of us and an example to all Christians. Rest in peace dear, dear Don.

Words cannot express our feelings at the news of the passing of this old friend and truly fine, husband,father and friend. We had the pleasure of meeting Don through his son Howard, as April is my sister. We have dined occasionally with Don and family and shared wonderful memories. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this most difficult time.
