Barry Haddox, 74, died July 23, 2021 with his wife of 18 years by his side. A U.S. Army veteran, Barry was born and raised in the Washington D.C. area. He was a husband and father, lover of history, and a bonafide kingpin, as evidenced by the perfect 300 he once scored.

Beyond bowling, he played softball for many years and managed various softball teams in the area in his spare time. He loved to travel with his partner in adventure, Gladys. Together, they explored the world, whether they were jetting off to Ireland or completing the Inca Trail in Peru

In his professional life, Barry worked for the US Government for over 35 years. His last post was with the Department of Navy serving as the Director of Administrative Services.

Barry was a quiet man and a loyal fan of the Nationals and the Washington Football Team. His kids were his pride and joy.

He’s predeceased by his parents, Ray Haddox and Phyllis Bulmer, his infant brother, and his nephew, Cullen Haddox. He’s survived by his wife, Gladys Sakata, his children, Elizabeth “Beth” Shamblin (Alec), and Scott Haddox, his grandchildren Nathaniel and Isaiah, and his brother, Allen Haddox.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in the Lilac Pavilion in Vienna, Virginia from 2-4 PM.
