Betsy Barnes

betsy barnes
Betsy Barnes of Oakton, Va., passed suddenly on March 12, 2013. She leaves a husband with whom she recently celebrated 50 years of marriage, their two children and respective spouses as well as four grandchildren, who were her greatest joy. As a teacher at Oakton Elementary School for 33 years, Betsy taught over 1000 students , helping to shape the future of many of our community's leaders. She also created a special family home in the mountains which built a unique bond between family and friends that will never be forgotten. She was taken from us far ahead of her time and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association to represent the value she placed in their mission.

Guestbook

  1. Sending you lots and lots of love. I will never forget how Betsy welcomed me into the family. I will really miss her. I’m thinking about y’all. Peace & Love…

  2. Mrs Barnes was our daughter’s teacher at Parkwood and also Oakton. She was loving, caring and skilled as a teacher. She never forgot her students, including our daughter. When I would run into her at Giant in Oakton, she always asked about her and shared a lovely story. Her smile will be missed.

  3. Dear Bob and Family, We just heard of Betsy’s passing and are very shocked and so saddened. We are praying for you all and know how much you will miss your wife and Mother. Bob, please let us know if there is anything we can do for you. Love, Rich and Peg

  4. To Amy and family we wish to express our deepest sympathy for the passing of your Mother. Are prayers are for you and the repose of her soul
