Capt. James R. Beatty "Rick"
December 30, 1945 ~ January 4, 2011
James R. Beatty, EMS Capt II, with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, died at his home in Astor, FL on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Rick was a Vietnam Veteran earning a purple heart. He was a lifetime member of Boy Scouts of America, Purple Heart Association, and VFW. He was also a member of the Astor Moose Lodge, American Legion, Association of International Firefighters and Fairfax County Uniformed Officers Association.
He retired from Fairfax County in 1995.
Loving husband of Dianna Beatty, Astor, FL; son of George and the late Audrey Beatty, Woodstock, VA; brother of Terrie B. Dowd, Lovettsville, VA and nephew of Clayton Dekay of MO. He is also survived by many other family and friends.

Rick’s contribution to the Fire and Rescue, in particular the EMS was significant. He was an outstanding individual and a great collegue. He will be missed.
