Carla P. Vercoe
October 27, 1959 ~ August 17, 2021
M. Carla Paratore Vercoe October 27, 1959 - August 27, 2021
Carla Vercoe, age 61, of Haymarket, VA, passed away on Tuesday, August 17th, 2021 while in her home under hospice care. She passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Carla was the beloved wife of 25 years to Gordon Vercoe; proud mother of Garrett Vercoe; cherished daughter of Salvatore and Rosann Paratore; loving sister to Andrew (Renee) Paratore; caring dog owner of Sebastian and Clouseau. She was a friend, mentor, and teacher to countless people.
Carla was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Vienna, VA. She graduated from George Washington University in 1987 with a degree in Fine Arts.
Carla had a passion for holistic health and wellness and practiced it in her daily life. After years of teaching Pilates, Carla became the owner of Studio BE Pilates in 2008. At the studio, Carla was able to embody her mission of helping others live healthier, happier lives. In 2010, she became a Master Instructor for Peak Pilates® and started running a comprehensive Pilates instructor training program. She ran yearly wellness retreats in Mexico and Italy with Studio BE Pilates, and was an Adjunct Faculty member at George Mason University where she taught a Pilates course. Carla was certified in health coaching through New York’s renowned Institute for Integrative Nutrition, PMA® certified, a Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist certified by the Pink Ribbon Program, and she was an active member of the National Association for Women Owned Business in DC (NAWOB Greater DC).
We all remember Carla’s strength and her presence as she entered a room. Her appetite for life was insatiable. She loved being outdoors, reading by the ocean, going to concerts, and traveling to exotic locations. Her laugh was infectious as she surprised us with her uncanny and often sarcastic wit. She set the example of a strong, patient, independent, and smart mom and wife. Her generous heart touched so many, and she was as loyal of a friend as you could hope for. Carla is loved deeply and will be missed in a way that words cannot express.
There will be a private Memorial Service at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church in Reston, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Triple Negative Cancer Foundation (TNBCfoundation.org). Online condolences and fond memories of Carla may be offered to the family at MoneyandKing.com.

Carla was my Peak Pilates Level 1/2 Master Instructor. She was tough love, but a whole lot of love, caring, support, encouragement, and the list goes on. I remember when after a long training day, I walked to my car to find a flat tire. She wouldn’t leave even though I knew she had a night ahead of her getting ready for training day 2. She hung out until help arrived which was about an hour later. She shared stories about her son and her family. It was so Carla to let you in her life. She will be missed by so many people and I will always have a dear place in my heart for her. She was the one who pushed me to be the best teacher possible because I continue to be inspired by the joy she brought to all of her students. May God bless you and your family! May the eternal light shine upon her soul. May she rest in peace.
I felt your presence this morning Carla and it made me smile. I am blessed to have had you in my life, I knew it then and I know it now. I love you. In your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters. In this life you embraced them with your tender love; deliver them now from every evil and bid them eternal rest. The old order has passed away: welcome them into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain, but fullness of peace and joy with your Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.
I lived in Vienna and next door to Carla for a couple of years before we moved to North Carolina. Carla was fun loving and was a beautiful person inside and out. We had a great time together hanging out and doing stupid things. She will live in my heart forever. Prayers to her family for peace, strength and comfort during this difficult time.
