Carol Balena Fallon

Carol Balena Fallon, of McLean, Virginia passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Mrs. Fallon's death came eight weeks to the day after the death of her beloved husband, Patrick Joseph Fallon, who passed shortly before their 62nd wedding anniversary. Also, she was preceded in death by her dearly loved parents, William and Bernice Simanaitis Balena and her cherished brother, Joseph Balena.
Born May 21, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA, Carol graduated from Brentwood High School in 1953. During high school, she was the news editor for the Minaret, the school newspaper, played on the girls' basketball team and was a member of the girls' chorus.
In 1953, Carol began her financial services career at Pittsburgh National Bank. She left the bank in 1960 when she and her husband stated their family. She was very involved in her children's school and extracurricular activities. She volunteered for many charitable events and philanthropic organizations, such as the Girl Scouts of America, Holy Family Church in West Newton, PA, as well as St. Luke's Church in McLean, VA.
During the summer of 1972, the family relocated to Virginia for her husband's career. Carol returned to work in 1976 at a local bank in McLean. In 1979, she moved to Equifax Credit Bureau. She then became the Office Manager for National Printing Equipment Supply Association (NPES) in 1980. In 1987, she joined her last employer, the Farm Credit Association before retiring a year later.
Carol enjoyed cooking, traveling, fine dining, the beach, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Diane Fallon Atwell of McLean, VA, Patricia Fallon Koogler, and son-in law, Charles Kevin Koogler of Staunton, VA. Also surviving are her grandsons, Patrick William Atwell of McLean, Thomas William Koogler and Jonathan Patrick Koogler of Staunton, as well as her sisters, Ann Rae of West Newton, PA and Gladys Petrone of Canonsburg, PA. Carol will be profoundly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
She was a member of St Luke's Catholic Church in McLean, VA.
