Our love and prayers are with you all. Steve
Thank you Harris Family for sharing your dad with us for so many years. Chuck Harris- We knew him as Coach- BoBo- Chuckles – and many other names- but they were all meant with love. While he was raising his own 10 kids he raised a generation of wrestlers. He formed our lives and made us tough. He yelled at us and pushed us with love. I think I speak for all of his former Yorktown wrestlers when I say thank you, thank you, thank you! for everything you taught us and we carry with us every day! May he RIP.
Great man, made a difference in my life!
God Bless during this difficult time. Dennis, you and your family are in our prayers.

Coach Harris coached me at Yorktown on their JV team 63-64. He was a great inspiration, modeled hard work & to do the best we could. He had a great sense of humor, full of integrity and was an honorable man. I will miss him.
Coach Harris will be greatly missed by many I’m sure. I remember him well as he taught me many things about wrestling way back in 1972. Great man. Great Coach.
So sad to hear of Coach’s passing. I remember him well and I hope the family takes comfort from the knowledge that Coach touched so many young lives and made a lasting, enduring difference. Few people can look back at the end of their days and make the same claim.
Angie & Family, We celebrate your Dad’s long life, from his humble beginning in the South, his educational attainments, his dedication to Grace & all those many kids, his teaching and coaching accomplishments in the Arlington County schools, and his love of the Catholic Church. May he rest in peace knowing that he had a life well lived. We love you Angie, Terry & Jim
Coach Harris was an admired and inspirational fixture at every wrestling event that I can remember growing up. From youth wrestling through college, if you wrestled in the DC area, you knew Coach Harris was quietly and emotionally critiquing you from the edge of a bleacher. I can still picture the animated gestures as he made every move at that bleacher’s edge as if he was right down on the mat. I remember when I was 8 years old asking my dad “who was that funny man wrestling by himself from the stands?”; he said simply; “That’s Coach Harris; watch his moves and intensity; and learn. Oh, yea, he also taught your mom driver’s education with the same intensity”. Little did I know then, that Coach Harris’ son would be one of my closest lifetime friends. Mo, our love and prayers are with you, your mom and your awesome family. We love you, and God Bless. Bill and Laura.
Coach Harris was always pushing us to do our best in football which made for some tough practices and I remember thinking, those poor wrestling guys have it a lot worse than us! Great coach of the highest integrety. What a great influence he had on so many students lives. God’s strength to his family.
My first remembrances of Coach Harris were of a formidable and competitive adversary. Later through two of his former wrestlers, Milt Sherman and Scott Brooks, I finally got to know and appreciate the heart and charactor of this fine man. Coach Harris could provide many a truth about life or sometimes just share some plain coaching logic. I enjoyed every conversation with him. Thank you for giving of yourself and may God bless you Coach.
Thank you for your help, guidance, leadership, during our working APS days. A great coach, teacher who I tried to follow. A Man’s man, a Coach’s coach. Thank you Lord for men like Chuck Harris. Condolences to all in the family.
Taught me to wrestle @Yorktown !st year,1960-1961,an interest I pursued and follow to this day.Tough but fair.He will be fondly remembered by MANY!RIP Coach.Respects to family,Bill Hoagland

So sorry for the loss of your father Angie. Prayers of comfort, guidance and understanding for you, your mother, siblings and all who knew and loved your father. May you all be comforted by the warmth of treasured memories.
My condolences for the family in losing such a great man and for me, the one mentor I had in high school that made me believe that I could do better and be a better person/wrestler. Coach Harris will be missed by many. I remember the Harris boys, the trips to Coach’s house, and the many matches Coach would take us to, especially Woodbury Forest. My thoughts and prayers for the family. YHS ’69
Our thoughts and prayers are with Grace and family. Chuck was a great friend and help to me to Yorktown.
Dennis and Mo, How many of your former co-workers can say they knew your dad longer than they’ve known you? From coach at Yorktown to running into him at RFK. Always the gentleman, mentor and teacher. All my prayers to the entire Harris family.
The Meeks family sends their condolences. Many fond memories of coach Harris who coached with my dad, Jesse, for many years at Yorktown. He will live on in the hearts of so many kids that he had such a positive influence on.
We extend our deepest sympathy to Mo, Angie and all the Harris family. May your Dad rest in eternal peace and may God comfort you all in your loss.
I wrestled for Coach Harris, 1962-1965, no one who ever met him will ever forget him, he was tough as nails, worked his teams hard, but was fair & cared about each one of his kids and their futures. He even doctored his kids, something that wouldn’t happen today, one year I had a boil on my wrist which he doctored, & as tough as he was I thought he was going to throw up. Although I havent seen him in some years I still think back fondly of those days doing hours of sit outs in our rubber suits. God bless you Coach Harris, and thank you.
Fond memories of a very nice and special man. Rest in peace. Bill, Sue, Kevin, and Megan Creel.
For three years at Yorktown (class of ’69) I tried to convince both myself and Coach Harris that I was NOT a Yorkburger! I hope I was successful. As an educator and a coach, he was a positive influence on thousands of young people. His influence on me led me to college and a career as a college wrestler. That foundation at Yorktown also helped me move on to a succesful career as a high school and college coach. His influence is still carried on through the many young men he worked with.
Angie, I’m so sorry to hear of your father’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May all your precious memories get you through this difficult time.
Mr. Harris was my JV football coach at Yorktown in 1966. He was a terrific coach that was respected by everyone. I was blessed to have him in my life and wish all his family the very best.
I had Coach Harris both as a J.V. football mentor and a driver’s ed coach. Recall how he worked several jobs to support those 10 children. A great Yorktown High School institution.
