Charles M. Aaronson, MD, Dermatologist, died on Friday November 12, 2021 at age 90. He was one of the founding doctors of Fairfax Hospital where he served as their first Chief of Dermatology a position he held from June 1970 to August 1995. He practiced dermatology largely in Fairfax, Va. Early in his career, Dr. Aaronson invented a mobile skin cancer testing vehicle which he drove to Capitol Hill so Members of Congress could be tested for skin cancer. At age 90, Dr. Aaronson was mentally sharp and enjoyed meeting his favorite colleagues monthly for his Dermatology Journal Club.

Dr. Aaronson graduated at the top of his class at George Washington University Medical School in June, 1955. He enjoyed listening to classical music, playing the trumpet, languages (French and German) and motorcycling. He rode motorcycles for over 50 years in the U.S., Canada and abroad. He was a devotee of swimming and hiking. He and his family enjoyed their farm and dogs in Sperryville, Virginia for many years.

Dr.Aaronson served as Captain in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 – 1963. At Carswell Air Force Base Hospital in Fort Worth Texas, Dr. Aaronson was Chief, and originator at that hospital, of the Dermatology Clinic. He was Chief of clinics and consultant to military facilities in central Texas in occupational health.

Dr. Aaronson leaves behind Lila, his wife of 68 years, daughter Ruth, and honorary son Khanh Nguyen and his family. He is sorely missed.
