Charles Richard Ashmore
November 5, 1927 ~ October 11, 2014
Passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at his home in Fairfax, Va. Beloved husband of Glenda F. Ashmore; devoted father of Sandy Burns (Frank), Thomas R. Ashmore (Jeanne) and Tim Ashmore (Courtney); grandfather of Nate Burns, Sarah Gail Ashmore, Lynn Ashmore and William Spencer Ashmore. Charles was a proud alumni of Oklahoma State University and a retired Federal employee for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 17th at 12 Noon at Quantico National Cemetery.

I am so sorry to hear that Charlie passed away! Charlie was a good friend of mine for many years at the Vienna Inn. He would come in regularly at 4:30pm, have his 3 beers, and then go home. Charlie loved to talk to people and made friends with everybody. The waitresses at the Inn loved him and always made sure he got his seat and was taken care of. He was full of interesting stories about growing up in Oklahoma in the 1930’s, serving in the army during WWII and Korea, and he also shared memories of his years in the Vienna area. He was indeed a proud graduate of Oklahoma State! I will really miss Charlie, and so will his many friends at the Vienna Inn.
In my youth I always looked forward to seeing Uncle Richard when he was coming for a visit. He was quite a guy and I looked up to him. I remember his laugh and him telling stories, a positive and caring soul…MM
Charlie was one of the nicest people I ever knew. We carpooled together and enjoyed every minute We were together. I still use many of his jokes like the one about Nute Rockney. I will up there tomorrow ,from Florida,and wanted to see or talk to him. Ihave pictures of him at retirement. I will miss him deeply. sm
