Christian Peter Maimone
April 27, 1966 ~ October 21, 2018
Christian Peter Maimone, of Fairfax, VA, passed away on October 21, 2018. He was 52 years old.
Chris was born to Emanuel and Carol Maimone on April 27, 1966, in Nurnberg, Germany. He graduated from Saint Anselm’s Abbey School in Washington, DC in 1984, received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in 1988, and a law degree from George Mason University in 1991. Chris’ passion for the rule of law led him to serve as a Captain in the United States Army JAG Corps from 1992-1998. Following his time in the military, he remained committed to the law, serving most recently as an attorney with the Department of Health and Human Services.
Chris met his wife, Julianne (Julie) Romance, on June 5, 1988 at Saint Luke Catholic Church in McLean, Virginia, and they were married on December 29, 1990. United in their common devotion to their religion and family values, Julie and Chris were blessed to be married for 27 years, with four wonderful children.
Chris was a devoted member of Youth Apostles and volunteered in the Diocese of Arlington with the youth ministry programs at Saint Luke, Saint Bernadette, Saint Mary of Sorrows, and most recently Saint Leo the Great. For 30 years, he mentored students by sharing his beliefs through his words and his sense of humor. He also helped raise awareness for the ALS Association in his father’s memory, participating in their annual Walk to Defeat ALS every year for the past 18 years. He was an avid bicyclist, completing 100-mile rides, and biking to work on most days, proudly riding even throughout the coldest of winter months.
Chris is survived by his wife, Julianne; his children Nicolette (Nathan Meluvor), Angelina, Michaelangelo, and Maximilian; his mother, Carol; his sisters, Lauren (John Duffy) and Sara (Mike Miller); his brother, Greg (Caroline); in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a wealth of family and friends.
Chris is preceded by his father, Emanuel, and his grandparents, Paul and Maria Maimone and Ralph and Angela Romano.
There will be a viewing held at Money and King Funeral Home in Vienna, Virginia, on Sunday, October 28, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Monday, October 29, at 11:30 am with a visitation at 10:30 am prior to the start of the service, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Fairfax, Virginia. Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 30 at 11:00 am, at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Virginia.

Brother, you were such a gift to so many. When I reflect on you, the word that comes to mind is JOYFUL. You lived rooted in the love of Jesus Christ as evidenced with the devotion you had for your family, your Youth Apostle brothers, and the youth you so faithfully served at St. Leo. I am shocked, saddened, and at a complete loss as to why you have been taken from us so soon. I pray for your family, for Julie and your kids as this is truly tragic. If there is to be any consolation, it is in being convinced that you are now in Heaven with Jim and your family and friends who have gone before you… we are praying for you… please pray for us. I love you brother.. a great big hug, Rob
You are an awesome family man and a man of great faith. You will be missed tremendously. My prayers for the repose of your soul and for your family. -Fr. Ramon Dominguez, YA
The world has lost a great man to the saints in heaven. We’ll all miss you greatly, Chris, especially your fellow Wahoos from UVA. Plus you were one of the very few “gearheads” in Youth Apostles I could bond with over our love of cars and racing. You always had a smile, you always had a kind word, you always wanted to know how I was doing. You’re a class act, a joy, and a shining example of a life well lived. You will be missed, brother.
Julie and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that you have been in my thoughts and prayers. May Chris’ soul rest I’m eternal peace.
Dear Maimones,
I can’t fathom this loss. Christian was always someone to look up to. Funny, smart and kind, as an older cousin, he set the tone for what we could aim for. I’ve gone from denial to anger and think I will stay there. It’s not fair in so many ways and it isn’t right. He stood up for the rights of cyclists publicly and I can only assume used the same energy for defending rights and the way the world should be in his work and personal life. His giggle was amazing and I can hear it now. I can only hope my kids keep as much kid in them as Chris did. It’s a tribute to Carol and Mannie and Sara, Lauren and Gregory that they provided an upbringing that nurtured the kid in Chris and kept his curiosity and energy burning throughout his life. His loss is just too much and looking at that vibrant picture I’m refusing to let it sink in. I know he must have been the most amazing and fun father and I’m so so sorry for your loss.
Love and love and prayers and thoughts with you.
My Dearest Chris, My back row buddy – and ministry friend. You were such a blessing to me and a joy to be around. I loved ministering with you – especially when we teamed up praying with the kids. There was a great balance. Though I haven’t been ministering due to health – I treasure the time we spent honoring the Lord with this. You always brought a smile to my face – and always had a voice of reason when we got to crazy 😉 – like playing train. You are truly a beloved man of God and I know you are going to be rockin’ out in the Heavenly Kingdom. I will miss you my friend … pray for us … you and your beautiful family remain in my heart and prayers! I know this must be devistating! I am still in shock myself. I love you brother! Be at peace.
I knew Chris form youth group. He was always full of energy. He made me laugh. May God bless his family and friends.
My deepest condolences to Julie and the rest of your family. I will always remember Chris’ easy demeanor and friendliness. I enjoyed his company along with Julie and the kids in Duck, NC. Somehow, it just won’t be the same without him. Love, strength, and prayers to all. God has a purpose for all and I am thankful to have known him even this short amount of time. God Bless. Elena Johnson
Deepest condolences to Julie and her family – my thought and prayers are with you all-
Julie, know that Chris was a well regarded member of our community at Vienna Aquatic Club. I personally appreciated his commitment to the kids swimming weekly. His smile was contagious and you couldn’t help but smile along with him as you timed the swimmers or flipped burgers at the Gatir Grill. Chris’s upbeat way of seeing life made us all appreciate what we have and we are all better for it. I am sure Chris was this way in all that he did. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the Maimone family
I knew Chris in high school and there are three thing that I will always remember about him: how much he loved driving his Volvo, how he always pitched in on projects that needed an extra pair of hands, and how he always had a smile on his face. The earth lost a kind and generous man. Chris and his family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Lovingly,
Steve Barnett and Family
My condolences to Julie and the kids. I led girls’ CLC at St. Mary of Sorrows when Chris was leading the boys. He was one of my first Facebook friends because when I joined, there were very few other “grown-ups” on Facebook. I appreciated his sense of humor, his faith, and his love for his family. He was a beautiful role model of Christian fatherhood–proud of his kids, but not bragging about them. Please know your family is in my prayers this week.
Dear Julie and family,
Rhonda and I just heard the devastating news of Chris’s passing last week. Our prayers are with you during this difficult time that you may be find peace. While I never met Chris, I cannot begin to imagine the pain you are feeling after losing you life long companion but take solace in the fact that you have friends and family that you will always be able to count on for support and understanding.
Very sorry to hear about your tragic loss. Julie and the entire family is in our thoughts and prayers. I hope you can find some peace knowing that your horrible loss is Heaven’s gain. Wishing you the very best during this extremely difficult time. We love you! Alan and Linda
His legacy is something that you must have a lot of pride in. His was a lifetime of service to others. As a fellow Veteran, I am seeing that he is honored by the VA Catholic Chaplain with Mass. His life was special and he goes to a better place joining the ranks of the saints right before All Saints Day. I know the family is hurting and will miss him for now greatly. Our prayers are with you.
Love,
Dave and Pam
Chris will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Our friendship goes back to law school study group days. I will carry Chris’s smile in my heart.
Julie — so sorry to hear about Chris. I have offered recent daily masses, rosaries and divine mercy chaplet for the repose of Chris’ soul, as well as many prayers for God to bless your family and grant you peace in this most difficult time. You will continue to be in Rick and my prayers.
Dear Carol, Jack and I are still praying for your daughter-in-law Julie, her children, you and all the rest of your wonderful and loving family. We requested our church, St. Edmond’s, here in Rehoboth Beach, to have a Mass said on May 11, 2019, the day before Mother’s Day next year. You should receive a card in the mail about that, soon. Much love and prayers, Jack and Marge
Dearest Julie and Family,
We were up at the cottage …I was out in the woods clearing a path when Gary
came out to say “Trisha, I have some very sad, sad news” . I found the nearest
log to sit on and prepared myself. But when I heard that you had lost your Chris
ever so swiftly in the night I was shocked ,and yet also knew ,that by faith
God had a plan . His plan and His love is ever constant and true as the North Star.
Now , your precious memories must sustain you on your darkest days. I pray
as we have prayed so often during times of great loss that a “vigil candle ”
in your heart will be the light that sees you through. May every good and perfect
memory hold you all together now and always.
I am truly sorry that we missed the funeral . We were there in spirit at that very hour.
To the entire family we send our heartfelt condolences . May God Bless you with
a sense of Peace . I KNOW that our Dad will be welcoming the company of Chris
in their heavenly home! This gives us great peace and instant comfort!
With love ever constant,
Trisha Romance , Gary and Family xoxo
Dear Julie, I was out of the country when I heard the sad news. I’m so sorry for your loss. Can’t imagine what you maybe going through. Please know that I am praying for you and your family. I know that God has a plan through this storm in life and pray that He will comfort you all. Wish all my love and well wishes ~ Judy Jin
I have known Chris for years and worked with him in the Federal govt. I went to his home and took the Bradley Method birthing training with his lovely wife Julie and had an amazing, successful home water birth because of her training. I just found out that Chris passed away and will hold fond memories of him. I know he and his family are at peace because we can hold strong to the belief that there are no goodbyes in Jesus and they WILL see him again one day. Peace be with you and your wonderful family!
