Claire Hill died peacefully at her home on October 15, 2021, in Vienna, Virginia, three days after her daughter, Jeanine Denise Hill, had passed away. She was 94 years old.

Claire was born August 15, 1927, in Paris, France, to her mother and father, Suzanne and Robert Laumonier. She was raised in Paris by her parents, until her father passed away during her teenage years. Claire grew up in Paris during the Second World War, and met a handsome US soldier, Vernon Hill, who would become her husband of 62 years, until his death in 2009. Claire and Vernon married on September 6th, 1947.

Claire moved to the US with her new husband, where they were stationed across different states and territories. While working for the FAA,Vernon was stationed in the US Territory of Alaska when their first child, Jeanine, was born in April of 1952. Their second child, Robert, was born in October of 1953. Claire and her husband moved to Vienna, Virginia in 1958. Claire lived out the rest of her life in that Vienna home where she raised her family.

Claire was a devoted member of her church, the Church of the Holy Comforter, and volunteered at the church’s thrift shop, Pennywise, for many years.

Claire had been blessed with many great care givers in her later years, and had bonded with her final caregiver, Patricia, who cared for Claire as if she was her own mother. Claire's family is grateful for the love she received from them.

Claire was preceded in death by her mother, Suzanne Cochran (1997), her father, Robert Laumonier, her husband, Vernon Hill (2009), her son Robert Hill (2013), and daughter, Jeanine Hill (2021).

Claire is survived by her beloved granddaughter, Celine O’Dell and her grandson-in-law, Chris O’Dell.

Claire will join her Mother, Husband, and Daughter at the Columbarium at the Church of the Holy Comforter in Vienna, Virginia. Please join the family for her service, Friday, November 19th at 11am, in the chapel at The Church of the Holy Comforter. Reception to follow the service.
