May 27, 2008 (originally posted on the Washington Post guestbook) Mrs. Russell played a large role in my life, and her passing leaves an equally large hole. Her sons are my best friends in life and I feel their grief and loss as much as I can without being an actual family member. I’m sorry I hadn’t seen Cokie lately, but my mother and brother saw her with relative frequency. The years produced a lot of fun and a lot of stories which are classic to say the least. She was an icon in our lives and we will miss her greatly. God bless her and her family.
