Dale Joseph Maschino, Age 84, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents Archie and Eleanora Maschino, and by his brother Stanley.

Born March 10, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio, Dale enjoyed growing up with his siblings and trips to the family farm. Dale was a bright student and graduated from Chaminade Catholic High School. After graduating in 1954, Dale went to Ohio University in nearby Athens, OH. In 1958, Dale enlisted in the Army and was assigned to Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. His work there as a statistician led him to participate in building the first computer built by the US Army. Upon leaving the Army, Dale moved to Washington, DC and built a career as a financial consultant. Always independent-minded, Dale ultimately formed his own company, where he worked until his retirement.

While Dale achieved success in the corporate environment, he developed a love of the outdoors as a child and was most on the water or in the woods. An avid fisherman, Dale enjoyed fishing the Potomac River from his kayak well into his 70s. He also had a great interest in the Civil War and historic battles, which led him to be an active member of the Bull Run Civil War Roundtable and the Potomac Arms Collectors Association through which he volunteered for many projects over the years. Dale was a natural athlete, and was a strong golf and tennis player. He liked jazz, screwball comedies, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Suzan (Merrill Butzner Maschino), daughter Merrell, son Spencer, and 4 grandsons: Daryus and Kian Maschino, and Griffith and Caius Roberts, as well as his sister Marlene.

Final resting place: Private cemetery in Spotsylvania County.
