Darcey Frank Bohince, 89 of Nokesville, VA passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023, his daughter Keri and son in law Dean were by his side.
A native of Claridge PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh, Darcey was born on May 14, 1934, he was the eldest child of John and Vera Bohince. He is survived by his two daughters Rebecca Kong (m. Chol Kong, Vienna, VA) and Kerin Bohince Britt (m. F. Dean Britt, Wilmington, NC), four grandchildren: Forrest Britt, Nathan Kong, Darcey Kate Britt and Imogen Kong, and his sister Elieen Bohince Kohl.
Darcey married his college sweetheart, Judith Ann Knepper of Somerset, PA. They shared a wonderful marriage of 61 years, and were only separated in death by a few weeks, Judy passed on January 21, 2024.
Darcey graduated Penn Joint High School, Claridge, PA in 1952. After high school he briefly interned with Westing House and then joined the Army. After serving his country for two years, Darcey attended Juniata College in Huntington PA, and while there met the love of his life and future wife, Judy. Darcey majored in math and planned to teach but after a very short stint in the classroom, he knew teaching was not his calling. He, with the encouragement of his wife Judy, decided dentistry would be his vocation. He attended dental school at the University of Maryland, graduated in 1969 and was a member of the Psi Omega Fraternity. After graduating dental school, they lived in Reston, VA for a short while. In 1976 he moved his family to Nokesville, VA and remained in his home until his passing. During this time, he opened a dental practice in Manassas, VA with a fellow classmate, Paul Byrne. He later decided to open his own practice. After practicing for 33 years, Darcey retired from dentistry in 2004.
Darcey was the patriarch of a very close family that consisted of two daughters, four grandchildren and their families. Spending time with his family was extremely important, every Christmas was spent together, along with several memorable vacations and milestone events. Darcey, “Papa” was deeply loved by his grandchildren, they enjoyed Papa’s humorous stories and his famous one-liners. Papa never missed an opportunity to make his family laugh.
Outside of his family, Darcey loved many things: playing cards/board games, golfing, traveling, working in his yard, and watching all Pittsburgh related sports (Steelers, Penguins and Pirates). His Steeler collection is grandiose. He also had a creative side that included painting murals for his children and grandchildren and working in his workshop to refinish furniture and build small pieces for his family.
His family and friends will always remember his witty humor, his enjoyment of his recliner but mostly his deep devotion to his wife, Judy.
Services for both Darcey and Judy will be held Saturday, February 3rd 11am at The Nokesville Church of the Brethren, Nokesville, VA. Immediately following the service there will be a reception at Two Silos, in The Mason Room, Manassas, VA.
