I am very sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.
I am so, so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts.
I will miss David. I worked with him for 8 years and have enjoyed his friendship for over 30 years. One of my most cherished memories was traveling with him to the Soviet Union in 1979 when he headed the US delegation on Building Technology Exchange. At the very outset, when we reached Kiev the head of the Soviet Delegation and David were somewhat at odds. David was a good architect and appreciated good design, however, at that time the architecture they were creating in Kiev was not compatible with the existing architecture and the two delegation heads started off on the wrong foot. The discussions continued for the next two days, however, it all ended up in an emotional experience when David’s counterpart from Ukraine presented him with a lacquered box which contained soil from the city of Luhansk which was David’s ancestral home. It was a very sentimental and moving gesture and David responded accordingly, almost with a tear in his eye. All the differences were soon settled. I am so very grateful for the many fond memories I have of David. My condolences to his family on their great loss.
Dorothy and family: I am so sorry for your loss. I remember stories from Dorothy when we were both at the Corcoran about David’s outstanding work to address security issues at US embassies — and how proud she was of this new contribution he was making. You have my sincere condolences on his passing. Warm wishes, Bobbie
David R. Dibner was a great dad and focused us on the development of our careers and the support of our families and the development of good in our community. His work as an architect had him in the management of large and growing architectural firms and he ended up as head of design and construction management for all Federal buildings. He and my mother, Dorothy Joyce Dibner enjoyed world travel, great cooking and the support of the great life for them plus my sister, Amy and myself. Dad was a great guide tor a great life.
