Debbie was a lasting friend who filled our times at George Mason and beyond with great adventure, fun, and humor. We attended several cotillions together — she was “matron” at these having “come out” years earlier — and when an obnoxious photographer kept pestering her, she coaxed me into slipping into posing between dozens of people just as the photographer snapped off shots. She laughed, thinking about how he’d have to “dodge” photos in development to eliminate our ever-present faces. In so many ways, I will always think of her.
