Dear Carol, Dana, Amanda and Douglas, My heartfelt prayers are with you. I know Don touched many lives including mine. With much love, Cori
To Carol and family, Don was a special friend and fraternity brother, who I have known for many years. My life has been enhanced by having had him as a friend. My sympathy to the family. Bill Vest
Carol & Family, My deepest sympathy. Despite the fact that I did not see Don too often in later years, as a fraternity brother and friend, I thought of him often. Our paths crossed often while I lived in Vienna and Oakton. I will remember him always! Bill
Mrs. Swift, Douglas, Amanda and Dana, I was so sad to hear the news. Your husband and dad (or Mr. Swift to me!) was an amazing person. He touched so many people and lives. His positive attitude and wide smile were contagious! I have fond memories of our family’s life on Riviera Drive and many of them include him. One of my favorite sayings that I have held with me since my brother died in 2007 is: “Perhaps…they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings in heaven where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy. Next time the night is clear, look up…. Sending my thoughts and prayers to you all.
I extend my sympathies to all the family. I am a friend of Doug, Heather and Virginia and send special thoughts to them.
I feel like I have known Don my entire life & always remember him to be very caring & loving. My prayers go out to his wonderful wife Carol, also to kids Douglas, Amanda & my very good friend Dana.
I will always remember Mr. Swift with kindness in my heart. He was so much fun to be around. My greatest memory is his laugh and the time we went bowling with my father. Peace at this difficult time to his family and dear friends. Prayers.
Christmas won’t be the same without Don. I always looked forward to seeing him at Giant, ringing the bell and singing jolly Christmas songs. What a wonderful soul.
Mr. Swift was one if the kindest, sweetest, funniest souls ever! He will be missed by everyone who had the oppeotunity to know and love him. God and the angels are rejoicing as he enters the kingdom of Heaven. I’m so grateful he is an Angel of Giod watching over us while making our path a little easier here on earth. He will be missed by many, but never forgotten.

We were saddened to learn of Don’s death but cherish with fondness the memories we have of our association with him. Our condolences go out to Carol and family.
I send my condolences to Don’s family from me and classmates of his high school graduating class of 1954 Woodrow Wilson in Washington DC. Don was one swell guy. We all loved him. With fond memories. Barbara
Carol and family, We’re neighbors on the other side of Tanglewood (although we’ve never met). We are so sorry to hear about your loss – we know Don will be missed. We will keep you in our prayers and thoughts. The Vossler Family
Carol, I have fond memories of my meeting you and Don in my walks in our neighborhood park. In my last meeting with Don, I had a long discussion with him about eternal life, at the end of which he expressed his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I expect to meet up with him again in heaven. May the God of all Comfort undergird you with His love and peace in a special way. My wife joins me in extending our condolences to you and your family. Henry Weigel
Mrs. Swift, We are sorry to hear of Mr. Swift’s passing. He was a great neighbor, and we will miss seeing him pass by on his walks. Please let us know if you need anything. Sincerly, Mike, Betty Ann, Aidan, and Emily Linegang
Though I didn’t know Mr. Swift, I want to extend my sincere condolen- ces, because the lost of a loved one can be very difficult. But you can find comfort in the scriptures of the Bible. Please consider Romans 15:4 with your copy of the Bible. Again, my sincere condolences.

I remember Don and all the work that he did for the TCA park. His work was much appreciated.
It was with great sorrow that we learned of Don’s passing. I looked forward talking to him during our neighborhood walks. His sense of humor always put a smile on our faces. Our condolences, Carol. The neighborhood has truly lost a dear friend.
Dear Carol, Prayers and sympathy to you and your family at this time of great loss.
Don, one of my favorite old timers from TCA; always a pleasure to talk to him about the community association. I will miss the feisty guy; always ready with a quip. Our family was saddened to learn of Don’s death but cherish with fondness the memories we have of our association with him. Our condolences go out to Carol and family.
We will remember Don as a very kind and generous character with a certain spark. His friendship touched us during his visits to Chautauqua Lake, sharing stories of his family and his youth. He was a special person who truly was interested in getting to know you as a person. Carol, Douglas, Amanda & Dana – we are sorry for your loss.
Carol and family, We were so sad to hear about Don. We have many memories of meeting you both walking in the park, of Don dressed as Santa at the Giant, and of course providing a home for our stray cat. We will miss him and our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Dear Mrs. Swift, Dana, Amanda, and Douglas, We are so sorry for your loss. Mr. Swift was a remarkable, kind, loving person, and I have many fond memories of him over the years. I hope that your memories of him bring you comfort during this difficult time. You’re in our thoughts and prayers.
Many fond memories with the Madison High School Band. Good thoughts and enjoyable times.
Dear Carol, You may remember that I met you and Don a few months after you got married back in 1959 almost 55 years ago. I sold Don some insurance with the New York Life Insurance Company. Even after he entered the life insurance business with Acacia, he always referred to me as “his insurance man” whenever he introduced me to his friends, and made me feel quite important. He was always full of life and a fun guy to be with. I am so happy that I had the privilege to know him all these years. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Donald E. Godspeed, “Uncle” Don… My thoughts and prayers to you, “Aunt” Carol, Douglas, Dana, Amanda.
Dear Mrs. Swift: I’m sorry to hear of Don’s passing. I remember his warm smiles and sincere conversations from several family visits. One particular visit in 2004 we spent a warm summer day along the Baltimore harbor, along with Heather (sister), Doug and Virginia – fond memories of that day. I hope you find comfort in knowing his spirit remains a part of us all. Sincerely ~
I was greatly saddened to read of Don’s passing. I wondered why he was not outside the Giant singing Christmas Carols and ringing his bell. He was truly a bright spot for the season. I will miss him greatly. You are in my prayers.
Dear Carol, I was so sorry to hear about Don’s passing. Marion has been such a good friend to you and kept us up to date on his medical situation. We care so much about you and how you are doing. I was happy to hear that several people from the office made it to the ceremony. I also would have been in attendance but was out of town last weekend. I’m sure this must be a very difficult time for you. If Larry or I can do anything at all — please let us know. Hugs!!
Dear Carol and family, I was sorry to receive the email from the Acacia home office on Don’s death. The last two months, I have lost two other long time Acacia friends, Hap Day and Ned McGrath from Newport, RI.I am sorry I did not know of his death, as I would have attended the funeral service for him. Unfortunately, there are not many of us left from the Northern VA agency. I was able to keep up with Hap on a regular basis until his last month, when he entered the Sunrise Home in Fairfax Please accept my sympathies for your lost. God gained a good worker in heaven! Patsie and Joe Libby.
I met Don at the county jail. He and I were both teaching inmates. My topics were health and prevention related. I see from the obituary that Don worked also with OAR as Outreach Coordinator. Don was always in good cheer. He often mentioned something amusing as we walked to our respective sites in the facility. It was thru Don that I learned about the Storytelling Festival in Tennessee. I haven’t been there yet, but it is on my Bucket List. I am sorry he is gone. How unfortunate that we learn many interesting things about facets of people’s lives when they pass away.
