To the Gibbs family. I have a lot of good memories of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Mr. Gibbs always comes to mind. I know my mom enjoyed singing in the choir w/him. I will be thinking of you over the holidays. Patty (Scholberg) DeSantis
I worked at E-Systems while Don was there. He always had a smile and a hello for me when we passed in the hall. My thoughts are with his family at this time.
Our condolences go out to Don’s loving family. Don was aremarkable man, evident already when I met him in 1944 in Kansas City. I had the chance to be friends with him in the Navy at Iowa State College — and ever since. He leaves good memories with us and his goodness will be a confort to his family. We will miss him.
I shared a wonderful working relationship with Don at the Metro DC Synod office for 12 years. Don was a very talented man and will be missed. My heartfelt sympathy to Shirley and the family.
Mr. Gibbs was a wonderful boss and a great mentor. But what I remember most — I was at a wedding and he sang “The Lord’s Prayer” – I have heard it sung many time since that wedding — but none measured up to his passion and great voice. My condolences to all of his friends and family. He will be greatly missed.
My thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends. As others have said, it was a pleasure to work with Don at E-Systems. You have my deepest sympathy.
Don was truly a blessing to many and leaves behind a positive legacy. We were so fortunate to have shared a portion of life’s journey with him and will carry sweet and treasured memories of him. From our family to yours, we extend our deepest sympathy.
Our condolences to Shirley and the family for Don’s passing. We will miss him. I’m sorry I never met him at Iowa State. I remember he recommended a job possibility at Melpar years ago that worked out. Thanks Don.
Dear Shirley, We are saddened by Don’s passing. We know that he passed into the promised eternal life. We will miss him here on Earth. Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. Sincerely Susan and Georges
My sincere condolences to your family in you time of saddness.
Shirley, My deepest sympathy to you and your family. He was my favorite boss at E-Systems. Anna Lea
When I was an intern at Emmanuel Lutheran Church way back in 1971, Martha and I were treated to warmth and generosity by the Gibbs family and were privileged to see and hear Don’s strong faith and many abilities, including that big bass voice and the ability to coax beautiful music out of the church choir. Thankfully, our friendship has continued these many years. Praise God for this faithful servant!
Please know that you, Shirley and your family are in my prayers. Don is surely singing in heaven.
