Early Hopkins Losey

April 17, 1943-July 16, 2023

Early Hopkins Losey of Vienna, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 16. In his 80 years, he worked his way out of his hometown of Newport, Kentucky, joined the Air Force as an aerospace engineer, taught engineering to cadets at West Point and worked on programs that went to space before retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1993. He then continued his engineering work as a civilian at SAIC.

He married his late wife Pamela (Holcomb) Losey in 1969, and had two sons, Stephen and Andrew Losey (Karen Frantz), and four grandchildren, Maggie, James, June and Riker Losey. He loved his sons and grandchildren deeply, and they called him Papa. He is now reunited with his loving wife, whom he has missed so much these past 15 years.

He is also survived by his brother Frank (Janet) Losey, his sister-in-law Patricia (Daniel) Moore, and his brother-in-law Darrell (Judy) Holcomb. He is preceded in death by his eldest brother, Don Losey, and his parents Donald and Ella Losey.
