Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. My first memories of my brother, Edwin, are of him waking me up on Christmas mornings whispering “get up, Santa’s been here” even though Mama told him not to wake me up when he got home from his paper route. She was not happy, but there he was with a huge grin on his face. He picked on me horribly, but that’s what big brothers do. He was Santa one year at Church. I was so excited to sit in Santa’s lap and tell him what I wanted for Christmas. But when it was my turn, I crawled up in Santa’s lap and immediately focused on the class ring on his finger. I’m not sure, but I think I started crying, saying it’s not Santa, It’s Edwin! I was really disappointed to find out that Santa was Edwin. I must have cried all the way home. I’ll never pass another Santa without thinking of that night.
I remember how proud our Grandmother was when he sent her a birthday card with a picture of him in a tuxedo. How proud the whole family was of him, tuxedo or not. She kept that picture out and showed it to everybody who came to the house. Becky Syler

  2. Uncle Ed was always thoughtful of and kind to me, and never without at least the hint of a smile – he could find the humor in any situation, an example and a gift i will always treasure. – – Mike

  3. So sorry for you lost. I hope this scripture can bring the family comfort.John 11:25
Jesus said to her: I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life. Our heavenly father promises us the resurrection of our loved ones. God is a loving and kind God, he can never lie.
