Edith Malone Kearns of Falls Church, Virginia passed away peacefully on September 5, 2017
after a lengthy courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Edith is survived by her two daughters,
Elizabeth Ann Ivey of Reston, VA and Linda Lou Collins of Fairfax, VA; three grandchildren, Ronald M. Collins, Donald R. Collins (Amy Miller) and Christina Elizabeth (Jeff) Holden; two great-granddaughters,
Shayna Elizabeth Holden and Ryleigh Lauralin Collins; niece, Anna Powell and many more friends and extended family. Edith was born July 19, 1928 in Merrifield, Virginia, the daughter of the late Robert Franklin and Anna Elizabeth Matthews Harrison. Growing up in Fairfax County, when it was still considered the country, she loved and enjoyed going to church activities, rodeos, yodeling, attending country music events, bowling, gardening and cooking. A lifelong resident of Fairfax County, her family and friends were the focal part of her life; always there lending a helping hand. She worked at S&W Cafeteria at Seven Corners until it closed and for Raytheon as an Electronics Technician until retiring in 1995.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and services will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 12:30p.m. at Money & King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Avenue, Vienna, Virginia 22180. Interment will be conducted on Friday, September 22, 2017 immediately following services at National Memorial Park Cemetery, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. A Reception will follow after the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Arrangements are in the care of Money & King Funeral Home.
