Edith R. McCourt, of Fairfax, VA died on Monday, February 28, 2011 at The Virginian. Loving wife of the late Vincent G. McCourt; beloved mother of Eileen Hopkins (Frank) and Denise McCourt (Charles Buikema); cherished grandmother of Frank V. Hopkins (Katie) and Kristen Hopkins.
Edith grew up on City Island, NY and attended Barnard College. She began her career working on Wall Street, where she met her husband Vincent, who was a WWII veteran. They were married on October 30, 1944. Throughout her life she was an inspiration to her daughters and moved from New Jersey to Virginia to be closer to them.
Interment will be private at Columbia Gardens Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at The Virginian, 9229 Arlington Blvd., Fairfax, VA on Monday, March 7, at 11:00 AM. Contributions may be made in Edith's memory to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 43 Massachusetts Ave., Haworth, NJ 07641.
