Eileen Teresa Conway
October 8, 1946 ~ July 12, 2019
Eileen Teresa Conway passed away on July 12, 2019 at her home in Fairfax, Virginia at age 72. Born October 8, 1946 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Mary and Charles Conway, Eileen went to work in a variety of fields straight out of high school. She stayed longest with American Airlines which allowed her to travel extensively. She eventually paused to go to law school at George Mason University and while living in Arlington met her future husband, David Cooper, when he knocked some folding chairs down the stairs while moving into her apartment building.
David and Eileen married on December 19, 1980 which allowed her further travel opportunities as their growing family moved to various Embassy postings during David’s military career with the United States Army. Eileen was very socially active and especially involved with supporting her children in various activities.
When David retired in 1997, Eileen settled into a more stationary life where she, an avid reader, was able to enjoy books at her leisure. She was known to be fond of mysteries and thrillers but less fond of cats (although she spoiled her daughters’ cats excessively).
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Money and King Funeral Home in Vienna, Virginia. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Lt. Col. David Cooper at Arlington Cemetery at a later date.
Eileen is survived by her daughters, Erin Cooper and Rhiannon Cooper, son Jeremy Cooper, and grand-daughter Eowyn Pharris.
