Born in Worcester, MA, July 8, 1960, Liz was raised in Vienna, VA by her devoted parents, Frank and Charlotte O'Hara. Although she was born with Spina bifida and experienced many medical issues throughout her childhood, she overcame them with her enduring spirit and spoke often of her childhood friends, beloved horse, "April," and would even attend Ferrum College on an equestrian scholarship. Shortly after marrying Daniel "Dan" Laybourne in 1983, she made their home Sterling, VA where they raised their three children Kelly, Shannon and Scott. Liz was an extremely generous, caring, loyal, courageous, fun loving, woman that went out of her way to help those around her, lovingly referred to as "Moms" by friends of her children due to her "open-door" policy, unconditional support and love given to them, as she did her own children. Survived by her daughters Shannon Christine Laybourne and Kelly Elizabeth Merrow, son-in-law Jason Merrow, grandsons Dominick Daniel Whitten and Kaiden Jesse Whitten, brother Frank O'Hara Jr. (Judy), sister Maryanne Larsen, Aunt Maryanne O'Hara (Rose), 17 nieces and nephews, several great-neices and great-nephews, lifelong friends, numerous "honorary" kids/grandkids and recently found her birth family that included 7 younger siblings in RI. She also spent several of her last years living in Potomac Falls Rehabilitation in Sterling, and looked at the staff and patients as family. Proceeded in death by her parents, Lt. Col. Frank J. O'Hara and Charlotte Lambertz O'Hara, husband Daniel Scott Laybourne, and son Scott Wesley Laybourne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Vienna, VA. Service begins at 11 am with viewing at 10am. Burial to follow at National Memorial Cemetery in Falls Church at 1pm. New Life, eternally and for ever and ever.
I have missed you and and love you eternally and forever
Liz as I knew her,was a very kind and giving person. When I met her I was a young man that needed guidance and she always took the time out of her day to speak with me. She invited me into her home and fed me. Liz introduced me to her children and I have special and fond memories of them and seeing Liz smile as she watched her son play basketball and laugh and smile any time she talked of her daughters. Liz is and will always be a special person. Thank you for all you did and you can rest in peace knowing that anyone that met you loved you
