Emmett "Mac" McKowen
Feb 23, 1929 May 16, 2014
Pilgrim, adventurer, smuggler, sinner, saint, writer, photographer, linguist, boxer, soldier, tinkerer, and Indian chief. Well traveled, well read, he was a true and gifted teacher, and a lover of beauty in art & music. He was a dachshund man, Hero of Song & Story, and the possessor of superpowers. He had a passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for the persecuted church, and for the plight of the immigrant. He was faithful to his high calling of loving husband & dedicated father, committed with fierce intensity & integrity, an extraordinary man who was immensely respected and adored.
Emmett's quest is over he was taken to The Place Prepared for him in Glory, joining the Great Company of Saints gone before. The recipient of God's grace, mercy and love, he has entered the joy he has sought through life, now holy, incorruptible, and beyond reproach, a child of light in the presence & in fellowship with his Savior & Lord forever and ever. Thrilling!
He is survived by Wanda, wife of sixty years. Together they have four daughters & their spouses, 13 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Emmett C McKowen will be buried at Quantico National Cemetery, Virginia.

I remember Mr. McKowen as being such a kind and generous man. Also, that he was movie star handsome. He raised four beautiful daughters and was loved by all those who had the great privilege of meeting and knowing him. My love and prayers go to his family as he walks on golden streets.
Dear McKowen family, Patty and I stand with you in celebrating the amazingly full life of Emmett and rejoice with you in that He is arrived home, since he always was a pilgrim. We love you all.
Dearest Wanda and Karen, We share your sadness in losing Emmett on earth; also share the joy that he is with God. Blessings to all of your family! Love in Christ Shun and Doris
Dear Wanda, Karen, and family, Joining with many others of your BSF friends in lifting you up in prayer, knowing that our faithful and loving God will provide His comfort and peace, even in the midst of your grief at the earthly loss of Emmett, as you look forward to the promise and hope of the resurrection. With much love, Sharon
May God’s love and inner peace fill your heart and mind. You will be in my prayers. Call if I can help in any way. Love,
It has been my privilege to get to know daughter, Karen, through our study of God’s Word together- and now I understand from where her deep love of our Lord originated. May God receive all glory and honor for this Godly legacy.
Dearest Wanda, We became friends in college before you met Emmett and I met Lee. A flood of memories come to mind of your lives and ministry together and of your wonderful family. May God sustain you all in the days ahead.
We only knew Mac over the last couple of years, and those years bring pleasant memories as we see the evidence of service and love. We will continue to pray for Wanda and children as they enter a new life without Mac but best of all with our Lord.

We have not known you all as long as we would have liked to, but have been so thankful for the time we have had together. Wanda, may the Lord give you the strength you need every single day! We love you!
Missing you… The Laidlaw family
We are so saddened by Emmett’s passing but we are thankful for his dynamic and positive Influence in this life and the legacy he contributed for all of us to see. I particularly remember his patience with your “little brother” and how kindly he deflected my juvenile antics. I wish we were nearby to help you celebrate his life and legacy. We love you. Dear Aunt Wanda and family, So sad to hear about Uncle Emmett’s passing. We’ll always remember his quick wit, wonderful attitude, patience of a saint and his never ending devotion to family and faith. Love, John Jr. and Lynda
“. . . Praising my Savior all the day long.” Emmett is fulfilling his calling in heaven, as he did on this earth. May you each feel true peace knowing he is in the loving arms of Jesus.
We’re sorry for your loss, and thinking of you all. Enjoy sweet times together as you gather. Praying for you.
Praise God for Emmett’s graduation to his heavenly mansion enjoying divine fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ and all the Saints. I still fondly recall the gracious hospitality offered to me in their home at a critical time of my life, back during the New Year’s weekend of January,1971. It was during that weekend ISI leadership invited me to minister to internationals as full time missionary. Since that time I have been enabled by the Lord to serve with this great mission to the world at our door steps in USA and Canada. I thank God for him and his kind wife Wanda for keeping in touch and praying for me all these years. May the comfort of the Holy Spirit fill your hearts and home dear Wanda and family. John 11:25,26.
