Recently someone saw me in the dusk in my garden and said I reminded him of Genie Caffi. In the light of day, he would have seen things differently, no doubt; but it caused me to reflect on how I would truly love to be more like Aunt Genie. She was never angry without good cause; she was always laughing; she was always welcoming and friendly; she was very practical and wise; she took good care of the people and animals in her life; she had a lot of joy; she loved Uncle Horace and her children and grandchildren. I would do well to be like Aunt Gene! My thoughts and prayers are with you all, Uncle Horace, Polly, Paul, Amanda, Matt, Logan, and your families. May you be comforted over the years with happy memories.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May God in His so special way grant comfort and peace to all. Sugar and family
HI-C, POLLY & FAMILY, MYRIE LINTON WARD AND MYSELF ARE SO SADDENED TO LEARN OF MRS. CAFFI’S PASSING. WE’VE SAID SEVERAL TIMES, WE MUST CALL HER AND ARRANGE ANOTHER LONG OVERDUE GET-TOGETHER. WE ENJOYED SEEING HER A FEW YEARS AGO AND LUNCHING AT HER “COUNTRY CLUB”. SHE WILL BE TRULY MISSED BY ALL WHO WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO KNOW HER. WHAT A WONDERFUL LADY SHE WAS. SINCERELY, NANCY JO BELL-LONDON & MYRIE LINTON WARD
How fitting that the last time I saw Mr & Mrs Caffi it was at a high school softball game. Mrs. Caffi always had a smile on her face and they both loved to see faces from the past. I have never met such a loving, easy-going couple in my life. She was a beautiful lady and she will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Caffi family.
I have known Gene for almost as long as I can remember. We started working together at Dr. Dworks when I was just 19 years old. She was a crazy Redskin fanatic just as I was. She and Horace took me to several Redskin games. What fun! We had such great times and became lifelong friends. I moved up North, got married to a “Giants” fan…(Gene let him have it all the time), had 2 wonderful boys but always kept in touch with my friend Gene. Gene moved too, had a bunch of grandkids and even a great grand child! We were fortunate to have been able join them in celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary just a few years back (11 or so but who is counting!!). Life long friends are hard to come by and Gene was mine! I will greatly miss her! My family and I send our sincerely sympathy to Gene’s husband Horace and her wonderful family. She will always be my “special Redskin friend”. We love you Gene! Pam Mayers (David, Scott and Eric too)
Mr. Caffi, Paul and Paula, So saddened to hear about Mrs. Caffi. What a wonderful person and neighbor she was for many years. We always enjoyed seeing her whether it be in the yard or around Vienna. May you find comfort as she would in all the wonderful memories that surround you. Paul, please accept our sincere condolences and know that we think of you often. Jerry and Barb
Never an angry word to anyone or about anyone. Always smiling and enjoying life as it was meant to be. Caring for family, friends, pets and total strangers was the meaning behind Gene Caffi. The mother of my best friend,Paul; sister Polly and wife to the wonderful “Hi C”. My life is richer having known her. My heartfelt condolences to the entire Caffi family.
I first met Gene when we were 17 and seniors in high school. She was such a warm, caring person that I couldn’t help but be attracted to her happy, giving friendship. After graduation, we both attended the Washington School for Secretaries, and when I was planning my wedding in August 1949, I asked Gene to be my maid-of-honor. Somehow, we drifted apart after that and it wasn’t until five or six years ago that we met again at hers and Horace’s home in Gainesvill, VA. I have so many happy memories of Gene from years ago and in recent years. She was a good friend and I’ll miss her tremendously.
I was just doing a google search and came upon Gene’s obituary. I am deeply saddened to learn of her passing. I am sorry i am late with my condolences. but after my dad passed away, i moved from Vienna to Fredericksburg where i now reside and got out of touch with all of my parents’ friends. Horace, Paula, and Paul ~ i hope you have found comfort in all the wonderful, loving memories you have of your wife and mother. i didn’t know her well but she was always nice to my parents. take care. again, i am so very sorry for your loss.
